I like Halloween. I really do! It’s super fun to dress up the kidlets and take them Trick-or-Treating! I also love the handing out candy part! It’s a kick to see the little ones come up to the door in their adorable costumes…especially the first-timers. They are so clueless about the whole thing, but you can tell they are thinking “this is the greatest thing I’ve ever done in my whole life!” ;-)
But I will admit there are TWO things I REALLY don’t like about Halloween: #1….. FINDING COSTUMES (ie: wracking my brain for an idea, paying an arm and a leg for one, going to the store and not being able to find anything because it’s all been rifled through, coming up with a cute idea and then having to hide the whole thing with a coat and boots because it SNOWED that day, or coming up with a great idea and then having the kids change their minds 20 times! Well, you get the idea.).
And #2….CARVING PUMPKINS! I like the idea in “theory”….getting the family together for a fun activity…but in actuality it’s just a pain.
So when I saw this idea for using COOKIE CUTTERS instead of knives to carve your pumpkins…I was SOLD! Not only does it offer some really cute alternatives to the traditional “jack-o-lantern” grin…it’s so much easier!
Just 5 easy steps according to this tutorial at FreshHomeIdeas.com:
- Step 1: Tap Cookie Cutter
- Step 2: Remove Cookie Cutter
- Step 3: Carve Pumpkin
- Step 4: Remove Shapes
- Step 5: Insert Candle
I realize it’s barely September….but wanted to give you a heads up so you can be on the lookout for some CUTE HALLOWEEN COOKIE CUTTERS (if you don’t already have some…which you probably do.)
I found this cute set at Amazon.com. Wilton 12-Piece Mini Halloween Cookie Cutter Set.
Or The Cookie Cutter Shop has some really fun ones too!
Finally……a little inspiration from SouthernLiving.com. Cute huh???
