It is done. Number One Son, Erik, and his bride Kaitlyn, got hitched in California on October 15th and then last Saturday we held an Open House for them here in Utah.
Both the reception in Cali and the soiree we held here, were filled with food, family, friends and fun! Our special thanks to all who made the effort to share in our celebration. (And for those who decided not to, for whatever reason, we missed you!)
I’ve had several people ask me to post some pictures of my “DIY Open House Decor“, so here are a few I snapped with my camera phone that leave a LOT to be desired in the quality department! (All you real photographers out there…try not to cringe!) :-)
Everything you see was Pinterest-inspired…including the paper flowers, the heart confetti, the doily garland, the name pennant banners, the Sparkling Apple Juice and the Desserts In A Jar. We ended up serving 4 different types of cake in a jar….Red Velvet Cake, Lemon Cake, Eclair Cake and Cheesecake! (See this previous posting for links to all the recipes.) And they were all a BIG HIT! The homemade “Martinelli’s” we threw together and served in two lovely beverage dispensers was equally tasty! (Even though I forgot to get a picture! grrrrr)
All in all…our humble little affair was put together with much love and the perfect ending to a beautiful wedding celebration. :-)
