Beautiful No-Sew Snowflake Garland

It’s funny how one thing leads to another sometimes….
and turns into something special. :-)

This post started out with me wanting to try my hand at making paper snowflakes. I think the last time I actually cut out a snowflake was probably in 6th grade! But lately I have seen so many great tutorials on how to make 4 point and 5 point (and beyond) snowflakes, I’ve just been itching to set free my inner crafting childand make a whole pile of pretty snowflakes.

Since I am currently on a combined business/pleasure weekend away….I haven’t had a whole lot of time to devote to my snowflake-making….but tonight after dinner I decided to spend some quality time with my scissors and the stack of printer paper I grabbed from home before I hit the road.

Crafting in my hotel room on a Saturday night!
Do I know how to party or what??

After about 30 minutes I managed to come up with a decent start on my snowflake collection. I’m still working on how to make them more round than square…but it’s so much fun figuring it out. I plan on cutting out lots more tomorrow….because tonight I found THIS idea at and fell in LOVE! :-)

Originally I was making the snowflakes to attach to my Christmas packages. I have been inspired by all the lovely “brown paper package” ideas I’ve seen on Pinterest and other blogs like

See my post:  Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With Everything…{including string!}

But after I saw this picture of this beautiful snowflake window treatment…I knew it was just the thing I’ve been looking for to add something a little extra to our Christmas decor this year. I had seen a few other pictures lately that are similar….but this is the one that captured my imagination. Of course the fact that it involves NO SEWING was appealing too. :-)

Diane at has done a WONDERFUL tutorial on how to put this project together. Complete with step-by-step instructions and photos on how to make the snowflakes themselves! The five point ones are a little harder to fold….but makes such pretty flakes!

I’m almost embarrassed to put MY snowflakes in the same post with hers.  As you can see…she has definitely perfected the craft!

As has Britta at, except she has made it even EASIER! (And I think this might be the answer to my awkward SQUARE snowflakes! lol)

And go here for some beautiful PATTERNS you can recreate at!!

A heartfelt “thank you” to all the talented snowflake makers!!!  Thanks to you…all of us will be snowflake-making afficionados in no time!
