I think it has been fairly well-documented throughout my blog that I am an official “snacker” of the highest degree. If there was a medal for snacking…I think I would receive high honors. :-)
I’ve said before….and I’ll say it again…I would much rather eat 5-6 (or more?) snacks throughout the day than 3 big meals. It makes me happier to eat this way…and it makes me feel better too. Anyway….enough about my eating habits.
One of my “snacks” of the day….the breakfast snack…is sometimes challenging. Since I’m STARVING when I wake up, I want something FAIRLY filling….but a big bacon and eggs or pancake breakfast is just not going to happen. That would put me back to sleep immediately. :-)
So I often find myself turning to granola bars. I personally am a BIG FAN of granola bars. But for the LIFE of me…I have NOT been able to convince my family of their awesomeness! Not ONE other person in this house will eat the granola bars I bring home….until now.
Of course I can’t really call these “granola” bars…they’re more like a warm piece of sweet bread (that I don’t have to bake)! I am talking about this delicious little morsel called a Quaker Soft Baked Bar.
We received a box of the Cinnamon Pecan Bread Bars and the Banana Nut Bread Bars to try this week and the hubster and I were hard-pressed to save any for the kids to try! :-)
We both tried one of each and honestly had a hard time choosing which one we liked best. (Hubster was leaning towards the Banana Nut Bread and I was ever-so-slightly swayed more in the direction of the Cinnamon Pecan Bread.)
But as soon as we realized these babies could be microwaved for a few seconds and THEN eaten…we were in heaven! And all thoughts of choosing a favorite went out the window! They are both DELICIOUS!
It’s amazing how just those few seconds in the microwave elevate these snacks from good to YUM status.
Oh….and did I mention they are a wholesome food too? Each bar contains 140 calories; 5 grams of fiber; 6 grams of protein and are an excellent source of 5 B-vitamins. Tasty AND nutritious!
But don’t tell my boys that. I actually got them to try one and they are hooked too! We’ll just keep the “wholesome and nutritious” part our little secret. :-)
