Think Yourself Beautiful!

skin care

For some reason I have been getting a lot of offers lately to review skin care products…specifically anti-aging formulas. hmmm…do you think these people know something I don’t?  Because certainly they’re not inferring that I’m AGING!?!?  ;-)

Well, ok, maybe I am….a little. But to be quite honest, I don’t usually place much stock into anti-aging beauty products. I kind of figure they are all about the same. But when I was introduced to Skin Beautiful Dermaceuticals I was intrigued by their completely unique approach to skincare. Basically they believe, like I do, that beauty is only skin deep and TRUE beauty comes from within (with a little help from some good ingredients on the outside too).

Have you ever fallen in love? Remember that “glow” you had? That’s the perfect example of inner beauty  showing up on the outside. When something wonderful has happened in your life and you are feeling happy and relaxed, it shows! There is actually scientific research that offers powerful proof that when we change our thoughts, we literally change our cells and the overall health and well-being of our bodies.

telomeres

Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, a molecular biologist, won a Nobel Prize for her work in discovering that stress breaks the genetic strands known as Telomeres. When your telomeres break down so does every part of your body, but especially the skin. Choosing to generate calmer, more productive thoughts makes us happier and can actually help improve our skin.

There’s lots more scientific research…but I think you get the idea. Much like the saying, we are what we EAT…we are ALSO what we THINK! That is why each Skin Beautiful product comes with a daily affirmation, or what they like to call “Affirmacizes”, that you are supposed to repeat while looking in the mirror doing your skincare routine. Some examples include, “I am growing in wisdom and beauty every day”, “My youthful spirit radiates my inner and outer beauty”, and “I am letting the past dissolve and living fully this beautiful moment.”

I was so impressed by this approach I have decided to give it a try! For the next two weeks I will add to my daily skincare routine two of Skin Beautiful Dermaceuticals most popular products – the Best Defense Serum and the Firm Control Serum…..AND I will faithfully perform my daily “Affirmacizes” along with it.

The affirmation mirror clings included with my products were, “I deeply love and accept the beautiful person I see in the mirror” and “I am unaffected by the passage of time.”  That second one is going to take some extra effort. ;-)

I even took some very unflattering, no make-up, “before” pictures so we can compare in two weeks.  (The things I do for this blog! lol)

before skin beautiful

At the end of the two weeks I will report my results. I’m actually kind of excited about this!  I really do believe in the power of positive thoughts and thinking…but I’ve never really tested the theory. I can’t wait to see the results of pairing the power of positive thinking with the power of skincare products that have natural ingredients without harsh chemicals, pore clogging oils, or emulsifiers.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” I have loved this statement for nearly a decade now and truly believe it.

“Thou shalt smile and have a nice day. It frustrates the hell out of those who have other plans for thee.”
    —my mother—

I’ve tried to live this philosophy my entire life, some days more successfully than others!

Dear Jillee, thanks for being that brave and showing the whole World your “unflattering” photo. In Germany, we call that “Schokoladenseite” i.e. “chocolate side” which I think sounds actually pretty nice (and delicious). But whatever the photo in two weeks time will be like, it will be nicer just by you making a happier face?! What happenend to your beautiful smile in this one? (I imagine it was the dread taking a photo like this that wiped it off your face?)

Whatever, my affirmations are ” I love myself unconditionally.” and ” I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness, kindess and love.” (and I smile at me)

I hope your smile has returned to light up your face by now and I wish you a wonderful day!
    Hugs from Berlin, C.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.

Lord, help me not to look so dang old!

Jillee, btw I absolutely love your hair and how the shade flatters you. I think it is brave to go commando on top without any coloring (or is it colored?). And even though I am not there yet agewise (apart from a few dare-I-say-it grey hairs), I bet some female readers would appreciate an article about how to care for grey hair or how to embrace it or whatever is necessary to make it look nice etc. I certainly would like that.

      “…because it’s going to take a miracle!”

Sorry–couldn’t pass that one up. My Grammy was always one to walk on the sunny side of the street–she’d say, “Well, I’ve only got two teeth. But thank God they hit!” (She actually had all her teeth, bless her sweet soul!)
