At a recent business dinner I attended, the conversation somehow turned to school dress and how it has evolved over the years. I distinctly remember being in 3rd grade when we were allowed to wear PANTS to school for the first time! How times have changed! Nowadays my boys wear t-shirts and athletic shorts to school almost every day of the school year. :-)
THIS year however, I am challenging my boys to up their game and branch out a little as they head back to school!
Visiting the JCPenney headquarters in Plano, Texas a few months ago and learning about the current trends in men’s (and women’s) fashions really left an impression on me! And now I’m hoping at least some of that rubs off on my “boys.” This week we decided to do a little back-to-school shopping at JCPenney, but before we did, we took some time to peruse their “it’s a guy thing” Pinterest page for some inspiration.
As I looked at the board, I was reminded of the trends I’d learned about in Texas and decided to try and steer Kell and Sten towards some of them. Shopping the Arizona brand at the store we found everything we were looking for. Straight leg jeans, plaid flannel shirts, skinny sweat pants, zip hoodies, crewneck tees, to name a few.
This might actually have been the easiest back-to-school shopping trip I’ve ever experienced! Checking out the Pinterest page beforehand helped us to pinpoint the things we were interested in and then finding them at the store was a breeze. Why didn’t I think of this idea years ago?? :-)
Thanks to their great back-to-school sales, we managed to find two great head-to-toe outfits (pictured here) AND another pair of camo pants (not pictured) for just over $120.00.
When we got home I managed to
bribe convince Kell and Sten to give us a quick backyard “fashion show” while our grandpuppy Milo frolicked around and my husband Dave shot some photos. While I stood back and watched this scene my heart was pretty full.
Not only was I pleased with how we had upped Kell and Sten’s fashion game (and secretly I think they were too)… but seeing my two “boys” together like that… well that was priceless. I think it’s going to be a very good year! ;-)
