I recently had hand surgery to straighten my pinky fingers and remove a cyst from one of my thumbs. I guess I should say I had surgery on my thumb, but my pinkies were more of a procedure. It’s a long story…but the Reader’s Digest version goes like this: my crooked pinkies were the result of something called Dupuytren’s Contracture?, a hereditary condition that seems to affect people of Scandinavian descent more than the average population. Just my luck. :-)
It used to require surgery to straighten them out, but thanks to modern medicine, now there is a drug called Xiaflex that can be injected into the fingers and then 24 hours later a doctor “breaks” the thick cords of tissue under the skin in the fingers to straighten them. Thankfully this is done under anesthetic and overall it’s a lot better than having to have your hands cut into.
OK…that wasn’t as much of a “digest” as I hoped it would be, but that hopefully explains why I’m doing this post today. You see, I was in need of some “healing” after this procedure (and the cyst removal) and my sister Rebecca (Camp Wander) gave me something that I was SO thrilled with that I just had to share!
It’s an All-Purpose Healing Stick formula and it is my new EO crush! :-) I have had surgical procedures and stitches before and have never healed as quickly and nicely as I did when using this mixture faithfully.
With Rebecca’s permission I am sharing the recipe for her All-Purpose Healing Stick with you today. Not only does it work great on stitches and skin lacerations, you can also put it in a spray bottle and use it as an Owie Spray for your little ones inevitable cuts and scrapes. It’s also works on blemishes, burns, bruises, and bug bites!
CW All Purpose Healing Stick
What you’ll need:
- 5ml Roller Bottle
- 10 drops Lavender essential oil
- 10 drops Frankincense essential oil
- 10 drops Melaleuca essential oil
- Witch Hazel
Shake gently before using and apply as needed.
I applied it several times a day until it was almost completely healed. It was amazing to me how fast it healed up (and I am NOT a fast healer by nature!)
Here are pictures of my thumb and one of my pinkies a few days after the procedure:
Here are pictures I took 3 days later:
Here are pictures taken one week later:
And finally, here are pictures taken just a few days ago – or 3 weeks later.
You just can’t argue with results like that!
And here is a picture I took yesterday of my new neon nails (I went a little “spring fever” crazy!) Hands are 100% happy and healed. :-)
Do yourself a favor, mix some up and keep on hand for all of life’s big and little healing needs.
