I don’t know how it is at your house, but certain people in MY house (who will remain nameless) are fairly obsessed with personal cleansing wipes. You know, those flushable wipes you can buy next to the toilet paper that are basically baby wipes for adults? :-) I personally have never really caught the vision of these things. To me they just represent more unnecessary waste. But far be it from me to judge the personal hygiene habits of someone else! To each his (or her) own when it comes to bums!
On a recent trip to Whole Foods I ran across something that I think is a great compromise! They call it “bidet in a bottle” and it’s basically a bum spray that you spray on toilet paper to get that extra freshness that the cleansing cloths are designed for.
Now this is an idea I can get behind! (Behind…get it? hehe.) Extra cleansing action, but no need to buy another bathroom product.
Anyway, I was certain I could make a DIY version of this spray quite easily…so I did! I have personally used it a number of times now and give it a hearty two thumbs up! If you are a fan of the extra freshness afforded by “cleansing cloths,” I hope you will give this a try and let me know what you think!
DIY Bum Spray
What you’ll need:
- 3-4 ounces Witch Hazel
- 1 Tablespoon 100% Aloe Vera
- 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Glycerin
- 4-5 drops Lavender essential oil
- 4-5 drops Frankincense essential oil (optional)
- 4 ounce glass spray bottle
Fill the glass bottle 3/4 full with witch hazel, add aloe vera, vegetable glycerin, and the essential oils. Shake bottle gently before each use.
Spritz some toilet paper and wipe your bum. “Rear”freshment guaranteed! :-)
What are your thoughts about flushable wipes? Yea or nay?
