Five weeks ago today I began a journey to start “dressing my truth” after being introduced to the concept by the amazing Carol Tuttle. With her help (and her amazing Dressing Your Truth online course) I learned that women naturally express 4 different Types of beauty that show up in their facial features, body language, thoughts, feelings, and personality.
TYPE 1 Beauty: The Bright, Animated Woman
TYPE 2 Beauty: The Subtle, Soft Woman
TYPE 3 Beauty: The Rich, Dynamic Woman
TYPE 4 Beauty: The Bold, Striking Woman
After taking the FREE Beauty Profiling course, I discovered that I am a Type 1 and while I was already dressing my partial truth………
……..I still had a lot to learn!
So over the last month I have gone through the Dressing Your Truth online course and shared my progress in these previous posts:
I can’t begin to tell you how overjoyed I was at all the positive feedback I received over the results! I haven’t been able to wipe the grin off my face all week. :-)
Today I wanted to share with you (and solidify in my own mind) some of the wonderful “truths” I’ve learned through this experience.
Fashion magazines portray only a small sliver of the spectrum of beauty out there, and yet most of us feel inferior for not fitting into it. It’s WAY past time we stop taking the word of the fickle fashion industry, and start to believe that every woman is beautiful and unique!
EVERY beauty type has their own unique gifts and talents. None of which are better than the others. DYT has helped me realize that my gifts and talents are no better, and more importantly, no worse (or less) than any other type.
Since clothes are not an “option,” and everyday we have to decide what to wear, we might as well wear clothing that flatters and empowers us to be our BEST selves.
Having a system to help guide me through my overall beauty choices has been liberating. I feel like the “true” me is finally beginning to emerge and take flight!
Dressing my truth not only helped me to feel more beautiful on the outside, it inspired greater confidence in how I express my personal style. Feeling confident in my style choices has been a game changer for me…helping me to express my true self, inside and out.
But enough about ME! ;-) As gratifying and educational as this journey has been to me personally…I have loved hearing about YOUR experiences and insights into the idea of ‘true beauty.’
A funny example: I ran into my friend Laurie yesterday while she was wearing her “cat lady” costume for Halloween. She had on cat eye glasses, huge pink rollers in her hair, and her outfit was covered from head-to-toe in little stuffed animal kittens. It was one of the funniest and most clever costumes I’ve seen, but what really made it special was that Laurie made sure to point out to me she was still dressing her Type 3 beauty truth even in costume mode! And she was! It’s hard to go back omce you learn “the truth.” :-)
After only 4 weeks I am amazed at how intuitive “dressing my truth” has become. Once you discover your true beauty and get in touch with your beauty sixth sense, it’s so much easier and enjoyable to choose outfits or shop for clothes that beautifully express the true you.
But more importantly, DYT connects your outer look with your inner beauty so you authentically express the amazing woman you are.
You are beautiful. It’s time to express the true you! :-)
