During the holiday season, food is typically the main attraction of most parties and gatherings. But what about the drinks? Let’s not let the beverage selection fall by the wayside! It’s easy to add a dose of festive cheer to your drinks table by serving a delicious and festive punch. Today I’ll be sharing 3 different holiday “punch” recipes that are sure to steal the show!
3 Festive Holiday Punch Recipes
1. Egg Nog Punch
My sister-in-law Marianne was the hostess with the mostest! She used to make this “Egg Nog Punch” at holiday parties that I looked forward to with great anticipation! It’s essentially an egg nog float, so you could serve it as a drink and dessert in one! :-)
- 1 1/2 quarts vanilla or egg nog ice cream
- 1/2 gallon egg nog
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 8 oz Cool Whip
Grab a large punch bowl, and scoop the ice cream into the bowl. (I like to use egg nog-flavored ice cream for that extra punch of flavor, but sometimes it’s hard to find. Plain ol’ vanilla ice cream works just fine!)
Pour the egg nog into the punch bowl, and sprinkle the pumpkin pie spice over the top.
Stir in the Cool Whip, and serve immediately. A perfect pair for an easy to make pumpkin pie. Mmm mmm!
It wouldn’t be the holidays without enjoying a warm cup of wassail. This recipe is quick and easy to put together, and you can even do it right in your crockpot!
- 8 cups apple cider
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 4 whole cinnamon sticks
- 12 whole cloves (or 1 tsp ground cloves)
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Stove Method – Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan, and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Reduce heat and continue simmering for 45 minutes.
Crockpot Method – Combine all ingredients in your crockpot. Turn on High for 30-45 minutes, then turn down to Low to serve (and keep warm).
Ladle the finished wassail into cups or mugs, and enjoy!
3. Sparkling Cider
This is my “copycat” version of Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider. Don’t get me wrong, I love Martinelli’s. But it can be expensive, especially if you’re serving a crowd! You can make this version at a fraction of the cost without sacrificing flavor.
- 2 (12 oz) cans apple juice concentrate, thawed
- 2 liters club soda
Pour the thawed apple juice concentrate and club soda into a punch bowl or drink dispenser.
Stir, and serve chilled.
Time to go break out the punch bowl!
