The limited size of my bedroom closet is both a blessing and a curse. It’s a curse because it simply doesn’t have enough room for all of my clothes! (And my massive collection of cardigans is definitely NOT part of the problem, okay? It’s the closet’s fault.) ;-) Since my closet can only hold about half of my clothes at a time, I have split my clothes into a spring/summer wardrobe and a fall/winter wardrobe.
The “blessing” part of my closet conundrum happens when I swap my clothes out in the spring and fall. It gives me an opportunity to look through the items that I do have, and decide what I want to keep and what I should put into a donation pile. In other words, swapping out the clothes in my small closet gives me an opportunity to evaluate my wardrobe periodically, and decide when I’m due for a fresh infusion of style.
And recently I decided that was just what I needed! With the help of thredUP, my favorite source to save big on fashion, I got a handful of stylish new items to freshen up my wardrobe for fall. In case you haven’t heard of thredUP before, they are the largest online consignment store where you can find your favorite brands at up to 90% off retail price. I’ve been doing a lot of online research about fashion trends for fall, and I chose 5 pieces to focus on. Today I’ll share what those pieces were, and how you can use them to freshen up your own fall wardrobe!
5 Stylist-Recommended Items To Reboot Your Wardrobe
1. Decked In Denim
Finding the perfect pair of jeans not only will make you feel good and look great, but they set the foundation (literally) for most women’s wardrobes. Denim can be dressed up or down, and look more polished or casual depending on what other items you pair it with.
I recently bought this pair of Lucky Brand jeans on thredUP, and I have to say that they are definitely my new favorite pair of jeans! They’re cute, comfortable, and they’ll be perfect for cooler weather this fall. This pair of jeans originally had a retail price of $109, but I only paid $25.99 for them thanks to thredUP! That’s a savings of 76%, and a total steal in my opinion!
2. Ankle Booties
Booties are the most versatile shoe in your arsenal. If you already own a pair, try a heeled version to put a dressed-up pep in your step. Want something totally new? Try a pair of booties with an open toe, or one with perforated details.
These ankle boots from Cole Haan definitely show off the versatility of booties! These booties have details that are very reminiscent of dress shoes, like their classic buckle and lighter colored stitching around the sole. But I could just as easily wear these with a prim and proper look, or something more dressed-down and casual. These boots originally retailed for $278(!!!), but I got them on thredUP for only $64.99 – a savings of 77%!
3. Buttoned Up
A button-up blouse can work in so many different kinds of outfits. Try a striped button-up for work that can easily fit into your weekend look. Patterned button-up blouses are also quite trendy right now!
This light green button-up blouse from Ariat has a subtle floral print, but that’s not all its bringing to the table. Take a look at those buttons! They’re actually diamond shaped, rather than round, which is a unique sort of detail you don’t see very often. My Ariat button-up originally retailed for $71, but I got it from thredUP for just $18.99 – a savings of 73%!
4. Must-Have Moto
Time-tested and cool-girl approved, a moto jacket adds a bit of edge to your every day dresses, denim and skirts. Mix it into both your work and weekend-wear rotation for effortless style.
This faux leather jacket from Sebby is sleek and simple, but definitely has a “cool-girl” edge to it. I especially love the quilted accents on the arms and front! This jacket originally retailed for $89.00, but I snagged it on thredUP for only $30.99 – that’s 65% off! I paired it with a floral dress for a look that’s both edgy and feminine all at once.
5. Patterns & Prints
If you’ve been into solid color outfits, reboot your wardrobe with a fresh new print. If you’re a black and white type of gal, go all out with a floral print to mix it up.
I’m loving this pretty pink floral-patterned skirt from Harold’s! I paired it with a chambray shirt from my closet for a cute and casual look. I can definitely see myself wearing this outfit to many work meetings and conferences to come! The skirt originally retailed for $71, but I paid just $18.99 for it on thredUP – that’s 73% off!

Jillee, here is a helpful hint for you..Get rid of those horrible plastic hangers. Get some of the new skinny flocked hangers. You can find them everywhere.. Ross has them all the time. You will have twice as much hanging space in your closet. I did it months ago and can’t believe the space I have now. You will love it and your cloths don’t fall off the hangers.

Re: coffee grounds on scratched furniture. I wish I had a before picture of our inexpensive black cafe table where we eat all our meals. It had rings and wear marks and was not that old. The coffee grounds and olive oil restored it to practicality new!
THANK YOU Jillee
