9 Brilliant Makeup & Beauty Hacks
1. Lip Gloss Saver
Don’t waste a drop of your favorite lip gloss! When the tube is almost empty, place the sealed lip gloss tube into a cup of warm water for 10 minutes.
The heat from the water will cause the gloss to collect at the bottom of the tube. You’ll get several more applications out of your lip gloss using this tip!
2. Advil Zit Zapper
Zits can show up at the absolute worst time! To reduce redness and swelling quickly, dab some of the liquid from an Advil Liqui-Gel capsule directly onto the blemish.
This trick will take the swelling down and make the blemish much less noticeable.
3. Powder Your Lashes
Want fuller, thicker lashes? You don’t have to shell out your hard-earned cash for a fancy fiber mascara! Instead, just add a bit of baby powder (or translucent powder) to your lashes between coats of mascara.
Apply your first coat, then use a cotton swab to apply the powder to your lashes. Apply a second coat of mascara, and you’ll have perfectly thick, luscious lashes!
4. Double-Check Your Makeup
While your makeup may look great in your bathroom, a different light source may illuminate spots you missed. To avoid this issue, always double-check your makeup in different lighting.
For instance, double-check your makeup when you get into your car to leave for work. The natural light outside will help you see any spots you may have missed.
5. Concealer Triangle
Dotting on concealer under your eyes can actually draw more attention to dark circles. Instead, apply concealer in an upside-down triangle shape with the base at your lash line and the tip at the middle of your cheek.
This shape not only hides redness and dark circles effectively, but it also brightens up your whole face too!
6. Lipstick-Free Teeth
To prevent your lipstick from transferring to your teeth, try this trick right after applying it. Put a finger inside your mouth, close your lips around it, then pull the finger out of your mouth.
Any lipstick on the inside of your lips will rub off on your finger, before it has a chance to stick to your teeth.
7. Set Your Lipstick
Want your lipstick to last longer? Try setting it with translucent powder. After applying your lipstick, hold a tissue over your lips and apply translucent powder over the tissue.
The small amount of powder that transfers through the tissue will help set your lipstick so it lasts longer.
8. Remove Makeup With Oil
Coconut oil makes an excellent makeup remover, especially in a pinch! Just put a bit of coconut oil onto a cotton swab, then use the swab to wipe away your eye makeup.
9. Makeup Rescue
The worst fate that pressed makeup (like eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, etc.) can suffer is cracking. But you can rescue your cracked makeup with a bit of rubbing alcohol!
Just add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to your cracked makeup, then use your fingers to press the pieces back together. Once it dries, your makeup will be ready to use again!
