For those with sensitive skin, oftentimes what isn’t in the ingredients list of personal care products is just as important as what is! It’s easy for me to avoid irritating ingredients and synthetic fragrances when I make my own DIY versions at home, but I don’t always have the time to make all of the homemade personal care products that I know and love!
(And you know what? That’s okay! I love making homemade versions of store-bought products for a number of reasons, but I also have other priorities and sometimes those take precedence. Life is challenging enough at the moment, and we only make it harder when we’re unwilling to cut ourselves some slack!)
But back on the topic of personal care products, I came across Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel with Oat and Vitamin E while shopping for other necessities on Amazon, and noticed it had thousands of positive reviews, especially from people who have sensitive skin like I do! Since I was running low on my homemade shave gel anyway, I added it to my cart and figured I’d give it a try.
As luck would have it, I ended up loving the stuff, to the point that I couldn’t wait to tell you all about it in today’s post! And who knows? You may just decide to give it a permanent place in your beauty and self-care arsenal too. Also, there are a lot of other uses for shaving cream, too, so don’t worry about it going to waste!
3 Things I Love About Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel
1. It’s Packed With Soothing Ingredients
This therapeutic shave gel gets its moisturizing properties from skin-friendly ingredients like vitamin E, oats, and aloe, which helps to keep skin hydrated as your razor removes hair and dead skin. When lathered up, these ingredients give the gel a creamy texture that lubricates the razor and helps it glide over the surface of your skin for a smooth, irritation-free shave. No ingrown hairs here!
2. It Has No Added Fragrances
If you have a fragrance allergy or are sensitive to perfumes, this is the perfect shave gel for you! It contains no added fragrances, which means you won’t have to worry about scents irritating your skin or allergies. And as an added bonus, this gel is non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores), which means that even those with acne-prone skin could use it on their faces without worry!
3. It’s Luxuriously Creamy
While it comes out of the bottle as an opaque gel, it quickly turns into a rich, velvety cream as you work it into a lather. It glides on smoothly, rinses clean easily, and leaves nothing behind but smooth, moisturized, and hair-free skin!
But the creaminess of this shave gel doesn’t just feel nice on my skin, it has also cut down on the amount of razor burn, nicks, and cuts I incur while shaving. It’s much more rich and moisturizing than almost any other shave gel or cream I’ve tried, and it has made shaving a much less onerous experience for me!
Bonus Tip: Exfoliate Before Shaving
- The best way to ensure a super close shave is to exfoliate your skin before you reach for your razor.
- Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, resulting in a closer, smoother shave.
- My favorite way to exfoliate before shaving is to mix up a batch of my DIY exfoliating sugar scrub.
- After using the scrub to slough off dead skin, lather up your shave gel and shave as usual for soft, smooth, and downright radiant skin!
If you have dry or sensitive skin and are looking for a shave gel that does it all, I would definitely recommend giving this one from Aveeno a try!
