13 Useful Tips For Black Friday Shopping
1. Make A List
This is Tip #1 for a reason! If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’ll either feel overwhelmed by options or tempted to buy things you don’t need. Make a list and stick to it!
2. Do Your Research
Researching beforehand may seem like an obvious step, but many people skip over it. For example, you may know your grandson wants a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, but do you know how many controllers he needs? Does he want any games that may be included in various bundles? What about extra storage? You’ll give yourself a head-start by answering these questions before the sales start.
3. Make A Budget
Even though Black Friday sales are a great opportunity to save money, it can easily lead to overspending if you’re not careful! Decide on a budget for your Black Friday spending beforehand, and stick to it!
For Online Shopping:
4. Sign Up For Emails
Sign up for your favorite stores’ email lists! It’s the best way to get information about deals straight from the source. Sign up for those lists now to make sure you’re in the loop for Black Friday announcements.
Another way to be in the know is to sign up for my deals newsletter! I send emails periodically to let you know about great sales and deals on Amazon. I’m picky about what I feature, and I only share deals that I know you’ll love! It’s totally free, and you can click here to sign up.
5. Keep Track Of Codes
Keep track of any promo and discount codes you want to use. (And don’t forget to use them!) You can always find discount codes on sites like RetailMeNot.
6. Start Shopping Early
Many retailers have started opening their online sales earlier than Black Friday. Start checking in on your favorite retailers’ sites about one week beforehand. That way you won’t accidentally miss out on early offers!
7. Shop Cyber Monday Too
You’re sure to find great deals online on Black Friday, but don’t forget about Cyber Monday a few days later! Both days will be packed with discounts, and there may be different sales on Monday that you don’t want to miss!
8. Use Autofill
Use your browser’s autofill function to save time! Take the time now to save your shipping address, credit card information, and billing information within your browser settings. Then when you’re ready to buy something on Black Friday, your browser will offer to fill the various forms with your saved information.
This is a HUGE time saver when you’re shopping on several different sites!
For In-Store Shopping:
9. Bring Friends
Many hands make light work, especially when it comes to shopping! Make a game plan with some friends, then divide and conquer once the store opens.
10. Bring Reusable Bags
Shopping carts can be impossible to maneuver during busy shopping times. Use your reusable shopping bags instead! You’ll save yourself valuable time (and get a good workout while you’re at it!)
11. Make A Plan
In-store shopping requires a bit of planning beforehand. If you want to take advantage of a store’s “doorbuster deals,” make sure you’ll be visiting that store first. (You don’t want to accidentally miss out due to a planning snafu!)
12. Use Discounted Gift Cards
Use discounted gift cards to save even more money on your Black Friday shopping! If you know you’re going to shop at a certain store, check for discounted gift cards for that store on sites like Raise.com. When you buy a gift card for less than its value, you’ll save money on the savings from the sale itself. Smart!
13. Price Match
If the store you’re shopping at offers price matching, use it! Check Amazon on your phone to quickly compare prices on the items you’re looking to buy.
