I definitely have a “thing” for polka dots! I even have an entire Pinterest board devoted entirely to the subject! So when I saw this idea for DIY “polka dot jeans” from Summer at House And Hold I was immediately smitten! And I even had the perfect pair of jeans to try it out on! This project was so quick & easy! The hardest part was waiting for the paint to dry…but even THAT hardly took any time at all.
Here’s all there is to it!

DIY Polka Dot Jeans
What you’ll need:
- jeans or jean shorts
- light grey acrylic paint
- a ruler
- a wooden skewer (or a pencil eraser for larger dots)
Dip the end of your wooden skewer into the paint and starting at the bottom of the jeans, follow along with your ruler to create a nice, even row of dots approximately 1 inch apart.
Keep adding rows of dots until you read the top of the jeans. Fill in blank spaces evenly.
By the time I got to the top of the jeans, the rows on the bottom were completely dry. Once they are all dry, flip the jeans over and follow the same steps for the backside.
I haven’t personally had a chance to wash them yet, but from everything I have read, the acrylic paint does NOT wash out even after several washings!
Hopefully it’s already warm enough where you are to enjoy some outdoor activities wearing a pair of these cute DIY polka dot shorts! If not, hang in there! Spring is RIGHT around the corner!
