7 Brilliant Tips That Make It Easy To Have A Good Day

essential oil tips

I frequently use my diffuser while I’m at home, but it’s not always about enjoying the smell of my favorite essential oils! Sometimes the nice scent is just a bonus, because what I’m really after is the aromatherapy version of an attitude adjustment.

The focus on essential oils is often limited to their cleaning, germ-killing, and healing properties, but their ability to alter or enhance your mood is equally as powerful! Whether I’m feeling sluggish from an afternoon slump, having trouble getting to sleep, or feeling down in the dumps, I can take solace in the fact that there’s an oil in my collection that can help!

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing 7 different ways that you can use essential oils to sail more smoothly through the ups and downs we all face in our everyday lives. Whether you’re just getting acquainted with essential oils or are more of a seasoned veteran, these tips can help you have a more enjoyable day from dawn til dusk!

7 Ways To Improve Your Day With Essential Oils

1. Break Through Your Afternoon Slump

Feeling tired, low on energy, or just need a little boost to power through your afternoon slump? Put a drop each of lemon oil and peppermint oil on the palms of your hands, rub them together, then bring your hands to your face and inhale deeply for about 30 seconds.

The aroma of these two energizing oils will give you the boost you’re looking for, but without the crash that often comes after a sugar rush (or the sleepless night after caffeine fix late in the day!)

2. Energize Your Morning Shower

If you shower in the mornings, essential oils can add an energizing boost to your morning routine. Just add 2-3 drops of peppermint essential oil to your handful of shampoo or conditioner, then massage it into your hair and scalp to start your day on the right foot.

3. Increase Your Productivity

Having an off day at work? Diffusing lemon essential oil can help you de-stress and boost your focus so you can be more productive.

In fact, one study in Japan found that workers made 54% fewer typing errors when lemon essential oil was diffused in their workspace. Even if you’re not worried about your typing accuracy, lemon oil is a promising option for staying mentally sharp and focused on the task at hand!

4. Uplift Low Spirits

When you’re feeling low and experiencing feelings of stress, anxiety, or sadness, essential oils can be a useful tool for lifting your spirits. Orange essential oil has been shown to help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, and may even be beneficial in alleviating depression.

To help beat the blues, you can inhale orange essential oil straight from the bottle or use it in a diffuser. I also like to diffuse Calm Mind blend whenever I’m in a funk, which includes orange oil and other uplifting oils.

5. Upgrade Your Lotion

Avoiding artificial fragrances in your personal care products? You can use essential oils to add a scented element to your body lotion without introducing anything artificial.

Just add a few drops of your essential oil(s) of choice to your favorite unscented body lotion, then shake or stir well to mix. Not only will your lotion smell wonderful, but you can also enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the oils too.

Try a stress-busting combination of eucalyptus and peppermint oils, a calming and refreshing combo of sweet orange and geranium oils, or mix fresh-smelling lavender and uplifting lemon oil.

6. Fall Asleep More Easily

If you find it hard to fall asleep at night, lavender oil or Slumber can help you feel more relaxed and make it easier to drift off. A super simple way to do this is to put a single drop of lavender or Slumber onto your uncovered pillow.

Let the oil dry on the pillow for a few seconds, then insert the pillow back into your pillowcase. Lay down to rest, take a few deep breaths, and you’ll be asleep in no time.

7. Make Driving More Enjoyable

Most of us don’t really think too much about the inside of our cars until we’re climbing in them to go somewhere. Essential oils can not only replace the synthetic fragrances of car air fresheners, but they also offer benefits that can improve your driving experience.

Make the world’s easiest DIY car diffuser by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil or oil blend to a cotton ball and clip it to your air vent. When you turn on the air, the scent on the cotton ball will circulate throughout your car.

Use peppermint or lemon oil to stay alert during your commute, or use sweet orange oil to brighten your mood on the way to or from the grocery store. Add a couple more drops of oil to the cotton ball as needed to refresh the scent.

How do you use essential oils to brighten up your day?
