This Is Everything You Need To Know About CBD Oil

CBD Oil

Unless you’ve been totally off the grid for the past few years, you’ve probably heard something about CBD at this point. I certainly have! It has generated quite the buzz in the health and wellness community, but until quite recently, I didn’t really know what it was or what it did. I knew it was related to marijuana in some way, but that was about it!

But a couple of weeks ago, I decided that enough was enough, and that I should do some digging to figure out what CBD was all about! And I also figured I ought to share my findings with all of you, so that we can all feel a little more knowledgable the next time it comes up in a conversation or on the news. :-)

So consider today’s post to be an introduction to the subject of CBD. I’ve done my best to answer all the of the most important questions you might have, so by the end of this post, you’ll know what CBD is, where it comes from, what benefits it offers, and about the various CBD oil products that are currently available. So let’s jump in, shall we?

CBD Oil

Everything You Need To Know About CBD

What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol (or CBD) is a chemical compound found in the Cannabis sativa plant. But CBD is far from the only chemical compound found in cannabis—it’s actually just one of 104 closely related compounds called cannabinoids.

While all cannabinoids are related, they each have different properties and effects. For instance, tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. THC is responsible for the sensation of getting “high” that is often associated with marijuana use. CBD is not psychoactive, which makes it an appealing option for those who would prefer to avoid the mind-altering effects of THC.

There are all sorts of claims out there about the various health benefits of CBD, but the research on the topic is still in its early stages. But there are at least 5 potential health benefits that are supported by the current research, which you can read about below!

5 Potential Health Benefits Of CBD

1. Alleviates Pain

The endocannabinoid system is one of many specialized systems in the human body, and it helps regulate functions like appetite, sleep, and pain. Our bodies produce endocannabinoids that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system, and research shows that this binding action has a pain relieving effect.

According to a 2018 review, cannabinoids including CBD can also bind with cannabinoid receptors and relieve pain. Animal studies also show promise for CBD as a pain reliever, such as a 2017 study that found rats who were given CBD before an incision either experienced reduced pain, or reduced sensitivity to pain.

2. Reduces Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression are often treated with medications that can have negative side effects, including drowsiness, insomnia, and sexual dysfunction. CBD shows promise as a natural alternative for reducing the symptoms of anxiety and depression.

A 2011 study found that participants with Social Anxiety Disorder who were given CBD experienced significantly less anxiety and discomfort during a public speaking test than those who were give a placebo.

3. Alleviates Side Effects Of Cancer Treatment

Cancer treatment is known to produce all kinds of unfortunate side effects, including nausea, vomiting, pain, and more. The therapeutic effects of CBD could be used to alleviate some of these side effects. According to a 2018 review, there is reasonable evidence that cannabinoids like CBD improve nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy.

4. Fights Acne

There are two different components to acne that CBD oil could help correct: excessive sebum production and inflammation. A 2014 study found that CBD was highly effective in controlling sebum production, and a 2016 study found that CBD showed “remarkable anti-inflammatory actions” against acne.

5. Promotes Heart Health

Recent research suggest that CBD could have a variety of benefits for both the heart and circulation on the whole, including reducing high blood pressure. A 2017 study found that CBD lowered resting blood pressure and the blood pressure increase due to stress in male participants.

What Is CBD Oil?

To make CBD oil, CBD is isolated and extracted from the cannabis plant. Then it gets diluted with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil or hemp seed oil to make it easy to use and apply. (Note: While hemp seed oil is also derived from the cannabis plant, it lacks the therapeutic benefits of CBD that I mentioned previously in this post. It is a great carrier oil though!) :-)

CBD Oil Products & Where To Buy Them

If you’re interested in purchasing a CBD oil product, you’ll want to make sure you’re buying it from a reputable source. There isn’t a lot of oversight in this area, and low quality products could easily be contaminated with additives, solvents, artificial colors, and other undesirable ingredients.

However, lack of oversight is usually not an issue in states that have legalized cannabis. In fact, these states usually have strict safety and purity standards for all cannabis-derived products sold in licensed dispensaries. So if you have the option, buying CBD oil products from a licensed dispensary would be a good way to go!

CBD Oil

For People:

I chose to buy my first CBD oil product online from a company called CBDPure. They extract the CBD in their products from their own hemp plants, which are grown organically in Colorado. I ended up buying CBDPure Hemp Oil 100, which contains 100 mg of CBD (and less than 0.3% THC by weight.) It was $30, which is actually a pretty reasonable price for the quality!

If you’re interested in CBD products other than just oil, check out CBDistillery. In addition to tinctures, they offer lab tested CBD products like salves, capsules, and gummies too.

CBD Oil

For Pets:

CBD products are also gaining popularity as an option for easing anxiety and joint stiffness in pets. Our Production Manager Brittany swears by the Healthy Hemp CannaNatural dog treats she gives to her dog Scout, who struggles with occasional separation anxiety.

CBD Oil

Are There Any Side Effects?

CBD is generally well tolerated and considered safe when taken in recommended doses. But as with any therapeutic substance, some people may experience adverse reactions. Mild side effects noted in studies include diarrhea, changes in appetite, and fatigue.

CBD can also interact with certain medications. If you’re currently taking any medications, talk to your doctor before taking any CBD products to avoid potentially negative interactions.

  • I developed what appears to be fibromyalgia earlier this year and was luckily told about cbd oil from some guys renovating my house within the first couple of weeks. So I ordered some and am absolutely amazed at how well it works. The pain at night was really quite unbearable and I honestly thought my life as I knew it was over. But the cbd oil has 100% resolved my pain, except with pretty extreme repetitive movements (such as mixing hair bleach and putting it in my hair will make my right wrist and hand hurt pretty bad). But for day to day activities, the pain is gone. I was even able to start doing yoga again. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone experiencing chronic pain. It also seems to have helped my depression in that occasionally I am able to achieve tasks that have been waiting for up to 6 years to get done.

  • Hi Jillee! Thank you so much for this. God bless you for caring enough to check things out for us and then pass on the info. I have horrible arthritis pain, pain from numerous disc issues (that cannot be fixed), and my son has a brain injury that left him with a mind that never, ever stops running! As far as the people trying to rip you apart here, ignore their rudeness. All you are doing is sharing with us something that may be helpful, just as some friends would have a conversation. Maybe there are some people who would find their time better spent somewhere else? I, and many others, support you and KNOW, with NO doubt that you would NOT recommend anything that is terribly harmful. I also know that your readers (most) are intelligent enough to make an informed decision for our own bodies! Take care, Jillee and God bless all! :-)

  • Ok so after a the couple months that you’ve been trying this, please report on any results. I’d love to know in your opinion does it work. I’m thinking of purchasing me a bottle.

  • I live in Buffalo, NY and wonder where I could get some CBD Oil from? I do not want to be taken advantage of and being on a limited income, I can’t waste my money. What brand specifically should I purchase and where can I find it? I really appreicate your help. Thanks!

    • Hi Sandy! I would suggest clicking the underlined links in the posts and checking out the products offered. I chose companies that are reputable and sell high-quality products at reasonable prices :-)

  • Very good article Jillie. Our Canadian government has made marijuana legal and it is now being purchased from legal Government suppliers. I am glad you explained the difference between CBD & THC. At first I wasn’t too sure about the legalization of cannabis but I can see now that it has good medical properties when used properly.
I have suffered from fibromyalgia for over 30 years now & also have rheumatoid arthritis. I refuse to let it get me down so by using the CBD I can still have a good life at 70. Now able to get out & play with grandkids, etc. Thanks for this informative article.

  • While I know people who have benefited from CBD oil. It is illegal in the state of Nebraska unless it contains no THC, which is difficult to find or not correctly (legally) labeled.

  • Jillee, if you don’t mind, I’m going to weigh in on this subject. I DO NOT claim to know everything about CBD, but I’ve became very knowledgeable on it since my company started selling CBD oil and cream in January, so thought I’d share what I’ve learned.

First off, CBD (Cannabidiol) is not Marijuana, but often gets the bad stigma related to marijuana. CBD is derived from the Hemp plant, not the marijuana plant. They are both closely related, but are different. The hemp plant is what was so widely grown as a crop back in the Civil War days for making rope, paper, clothes, etc.

On legality – The Farm Bill passed in Dec, 2018 which makes CBD legal on the federal level, but each state can still have it’s own laws. (That’s why the lady in FL was arrested, because it’s still illegal in the state of FL.)

Will it show up on a drug test? – If they are testing specifically for CBD, then Yes. For a drug test testing for the THC, it would depend on the brand/company, as many of them will advertise they are THC free, but they actually do contain a trace amount! It is federally legal for it to contain 0.3% of the THC (the psychoactive component in the cabanas plant), but that .3% will show up! The company I use is 0.0% THC FREE and backed by third party testing with a Certificate Of Analysis to prove it! Drug tests come back clean!!

Dosage? – What many people don’t know is that CBD, in general, is difficult for our bodies to absorb. So how much do you take then? Studies show that it doesn’t matter how many mg’s are in the bottle, you are only absorbing 8-12% of it…unless it’s Liposomal. That’s probably why some don’t notice a difference. It shouldn’t be a matter of how many mg’s are in a bottle, it should be how much does my body absorb? Liposom Delivery Technology allows you to absorb 95-99% of it at the cellular level!! There’s a big difference and in my humble opinion, if it’s not Liposomal you are definitely throwing your money away.

How do you know if you’re buying from a reputable company? – There are many companies selling CBD now. Some have the credentials to prove they are reputable, and some do not. Just be aware and investigate who you’re buying from. I’m not sure if anyone else does, but the company I represent has a Patent and is “Plant to Package a product of the USA, 0.0% THC FREE, and has the Liposomal Delivery Technology”. Like I said I don’t know if any others out there are Patented or not? They spent years going in front of a board of lawyers and scientists who’s sole purpose was to try to disprove their product and in the end were awarded the Patent. They could not be disproved of their legitimacy so were awarded the Patent. That speaks volumes!

I read a really good book by Dr. Earl Mindell, “Healing With Hemp CBD Oil”. Great place to start investigating! Hope this helps someone!

  • CBD usage is against federal law. My job depends on that knowledge. Disappointed you did not address legality in your article – it could easily cost someone their job.

  • I can’t believe you would give your endorsement for this product. Those of us who try to stay away from anything to do with cannabis products, here is another voice extolling its “medical” virtues. As if our nation is not already saturated with drugs, you a talented, but typical homemaker shows herself downing a dropper of CBD. Where is your responsibility to an already weakened and drug taking society? I’m really disappointed in your decision to “inform” your viewers of this “amazing” drug. Stick with what you know best – or do better research on the effect of drugs in America.

    • Hello Betty… Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I’m sure there are others that share your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect yours. For your information, I am a recovering alcoholic and am quite sensitive to addiction and drug abuse and offer support for people that are struggling with these issues on an ongoing basis. I did do my research and I found what I represent in this post to be what I believe in. May I suggest that you read the many comments from people that have shared their testimonials about how CBD oil has helped them with everything from chronic pain to relief for people with their cancer treatments. :-)

      • You go Jillee! This oil has done WONDERS for my dog that was hurting so badly that I thought he was dying. The “look” I got was one saying…pls help me or let me go across The Rainbow Bridge.
In a few DAYS after the oil, he was throwing up his ball not knowing I was watching. He wagged his tail again every day & was a new sr. dog!!!
So my comment to the negatives you get is GO AWAY!

  • Thank you for this info! I’m a CBD user & I have seen the difference in my anxiety & IBS issues as well, I’m so thankful that this medicine is being more readily available, also there’s a great movie to watch on Netflix called “Weed The People”, good information there for sure .

  • CBD..I began experimenting with CBD Oil. I tried different brands. 2 of the 3 I purchased did little. Yes, it does take time for results to be felt. It truly does not work “overnite”. Everybody is different, some say it worked for their pain or medical situation; some say noticed no improvement. Yes, it is something most of us want to try? My reasoning is the terrible pain in my joints. I don’t need to describe anymore, my body was in pain, various joints. Yes, I have been under care of 3 different Orthopedic Specialists. Most drugs prescribed did little or had too many side effects. I have really educated myself on this topic. I have spent many hours on websites, reading articles, listening to testimonials (such as Jillee’s). Unfortunately, there are hundreds of different brands/manufacturers out there promoting . I am not “per say, any way shape or form in the art of medicine”. I happen to be fortunate enough to be blessed with a family member who is a medical professional. I was also lucky enough to have “an open conversation with my doctor who specializes in orthopedic/orthopaedics; he agreed and said “many of his patients have discussed improvement/good results with CBD. Since he is a professional, he did not tell me to go out and buy some or try to promote a specific brand. Only in conversation, he said “many of his patients have shown good results”. The two products I mentioned in the beginning of my article were CBD Oil. Everyone is different in mil/mg. of active CBD. I live in Georgia, the laws are unclear about CBD? Unless, you happen to reside in a state where there are legal dispensaries. I went to visit a friend on May 25, 2019 in Nevada. I went to a dispensary. If you have never been to one, it is an experience? The dispensary was very clean, customer service was great, offering THC Products and CBD Oils and Ointments. I was interested in trying an ointment. I discussed with the associate at dispensary just what my purpose was on finding a product that might help with my pain? He told me, “I hear so many people telling me how they get ripped off, buying a CBD Product and it does not work for them”? He said, the market is flooded with Oils and Ointments that don’t do a thing, but take your money. He suggested a CBD Ointment Sports Cream, 300 mg., I paid $50.00. I began applying to my areas of pain that afternoon. I apply 3 doses to my painful areas/joints. I have been applying faithfully. As of today (6/3/19); I have very little pain, compared to a few weeks ago. I nearly cancelled my trip to Nevada, as I could barely walk. My pain worstened. I was miserable during my trip, I had made plans to visit family for graduations and a special birthday. I was determined to make this trip, I had planned on. All I can say, I am not promoting a brand or saying it will work for you? My personal outcome has been a success. I shall continue using my CBD Ointment as now I can walk up and down my stairway with little pain, I sleep well with no pain and I have resumed my daily activities as well. Do your homework, and Good Luck!

  • I use it for sleep. The only thing is if I take too much I have nightmares, but with the right dosage I sleep very deeply. I absolutely love this stuff. I live in a state that has legalized marijuana and I get mine at a dispensary. It is very expensive, but works great. I also have an ointment that took away the pain in my lower back. My cat had a little patch of ringworm, worked for that too.

  • Thank you writing about this. One side effect is the smell/taste.

Yes, It sure does taste like bong residue, gross!

if you ingest the oil, then you perspire, you COULD end up smelling like weed. This might be a big turn off for some. Three times after a workout, someone has asked me why I smelled like weed and one time if I had any weed on me he could buy. LOL.

    Anyhow, just be warned!

  • I am a Registered Nurse and have been for 41 years. I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 34 of those years. I also have Crohn’s, Uveitis and Ankylosing Spondyolitis.I have lived in pain despite many toxic drugs and narcotics which did not help.I just wanted to share some great news. I had labs drawn at my infusion visit at the Rheumatologist and my labs are better than they have been in 13 years. I have been on the Orencia for 1 1/2 year so that alone can not be the only answer, but I started CBD oil 3 months ago and I started feeling “different”. I sleep better, I have more energy, I have almost no arthritis pain, I go up and down stairs without difficulty and I do all my own shopping. That is a drastic change for me.I get in and out of the bath tub without help. My poor husband was having to do everything for me and all the housework for a while. I was so impressed with the CBD OIL I wanted to share it. Below is my link to buy it. If it doesn’t work for you there is a 60 day money back guarantee. It helps with Alzheimer’s , Parkinsons, Arthritis, seizures, Insomnia, Depression…I could go on and on. • I CAN GIVE YOU MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE CBD OILS. I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA AND PMR AND COPD AND OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS ALL OF WHICH INCLUDE A LOT OF PAIN THAT I HAVE HAD FOR OVER 22 YEARS. I WAS PUT ON THE STEROID PILL PREDNISONE MANY YEARS AGO. THIS PILLS HAS IT’S OWN TERRIBLE SIDE EFFECTS. NOW MY HUSBAND HAD SHOULDER SURGERY 21 YEARS AGO THAT WAS BOTCHED, SO HE HAS TERRIBLE NERVE DAMAGE 24-7 ALL THE TIME. HE WAS PUT ON HYRO MORPHONE, THIS MEDICATION GAVE HIM 3 YEARS AGO A HEART ATTACK. WHEN THE CBD OIL BECAME AVAILABLE IN CANADA LAST YEAR OUR DOCTOR TOLD US TO GIVE IT A TRY. OF COARSE WE WERE SCEPTICAL ABOUT IT ALL. SO WE DID A LOT OF READING ON IT. THEN CAME TIME TO BY SOME, WELL THE FIRST TIME WE BOUGHT IT WAS A DISASTER! THERE ARE A LOT OF CROOKS OUT THERE MAKING MONEY FOR PRODUCTS THAT ARE REALLY GARBAGE. SO THE DOCTOR TOLD US THAT IN CANADA TO GET THE REAL CBD OIL THAT IS GUARANTEED BY THE GOVERNMENT YOU HAVE TO BUY IT FROM THEIR OUTLETS AND YOU WILL BE GIVEN A CARD TO DO SO. FIRST YOU MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY A GOVERNMENT DOCTOR THEY GIVE YOU THE CARD. SO WE DID. WE ORDER OURS FROM A COMPANY THAT FOR 4 YEARS IN A ROW HAVE WON MANY AWARDS FOR THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT THAT IT IS PURE NOTHING ELSE ADDED. THIS COMPANY IS CALLED CANNTRUST IN ONTARIO CANADA. THIS OIL HAS DONE SO MUCH FOR US I AM DOWN FROM 15 MG OF PREDNISONE TO 4 MG NOW, MY HUSBAND USED TO TAKE ABOUT 12 MORPHINE FOR HIS PAIN NOW DOWN TO 5 PER DAY. WE FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AND WE ARE MONITORED BY DOCTORS AS WE ARE IN OUR 60’S. THIS OIL WORKS GREAT AND NO YOU DO NOT GET HIGH FROM IT AT ALL. I HOPE SOME OF YOU GIVE IT A TRY JUST BE VERY CAREFUL WHERE YOU BUY IT FROM. THANKS BETTY

  • I have suffered with IBS -D (diarrhea) for years to the point I was afraid to leave my home. Even only drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning would send me running to the bathroom. Thankfully 3 weeks after taking CBD oil morning & night I do not have the IBS-D problem anymore. I started off with 1 drop under the tongue 2x a day then very slowly increased to 3 drops 2x a day. Truly our universe has given us every thing we need to be healthy.

  • This may be an individual thing. CBD oil did nothing for arthritis for me, and was an expensive experiment (used something high quality, highly reviewed) and absolutely vile tasting thing to endure while I waited for it to work. But the testimonies of it working are impressive. Nothing for me but a hole in the wallet.

    • Kristen, what many don’t know is that CBD in general is difficult for our bodies to absorb, and studies show that it doesn’t matter how many mg’s are in the bottle, you’re only absorbing 8-12% of it…unless it’s Liposomal, which in that case you absorb 95-99%!! There’s a big difference and in my humble opinion if it’s not Liposomal you definitely are throwing your money away.

    • I found that using a CBD cream works fairly well for my painful knees. Yes, the good stuff is pricey, but it does help… and none of that HORRIBLE taste! The thing with the cream that I found is that you can’t be skimpy with it. My two prescription creams were dosed at 2 grams per knee, so once I started using about that amount of the CBD cream, I saw a big improvement, although it did take approximately a week to really notice the difference. Since then I use it twice a day and I don’t have to worry about the taste…lol

  • My dog was on 3 medications (Gabapentin, Tramodol, and Prednesolone) to help manage her pain from Spondylosis, a painful growth of spurs on her spine. The pet chiropractor that was helping her suggested that I add CBD oil for dogs to her regimen, since the meds were at a high dosage already. Dog CBD oil worked at very low dosages and quickly. I was able to wean her off the other pain management drugs within a week and her relief from pain was better and safer than when she was only on the other 3 meds. WARNING ONLY use CBD CERTIFIED for DOGS for your dog. . The human version is not always certified to be pure enough for dogs: dogs are extremely sensitive to THC, and you could kill your dog if you gave him human CBD oil that is not completely free of THC (that is the chemical that gets you high, and it is not in CBD oil for dogs, but there can be trace amounts in the human CBD oil. The trace amounts of THC that might be in human CBD oil is not enough for a human to get high, but it may be enough to be toxic to your dog. If you are tempted to take your dog’s CBD oil for yourself, go right ahead, but it will be a much lower dosage than if you just bought your own CBD, and therefore, more expensive for you to get a working dose for yourself. But if it leftover from your pet anyway….

    • According to CBDistlery, their Full Spectum may have ‘trace’ amounts (less than 0.3% THC). Depending on the test, YES, it can show up. Isolate based is far less likely to do this.

    • Yes, it will show up in drug testing. The test is for THC, but if there is a trace of THC in the CDB, it will show up. It is illegal for military to use CDB and you risk getting put out if you take it.

    • Lisa, it would depend on the test. If they are testing specifically for CBD, then Yes. For a drug test testing for the THC, it would depend on the brand/company, as many of them will advertise they are THC free, but they actually do contain a trace amount!. It is federally legal for it to contain 0.3% of the THC (the psychoactive component in the cabanas plant), but that .3% will show up! The company I use is 0.0% THC FREE and backed by third party testing with a Certificate Of Analysis to prove it! Drug tests come back clean!!

  • My son was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and asked for it for pain relief. I started with edibles and it really helped him. After he was deemed cured, I discovered I had breast cancer. I had no nausea but I did get debilitating joint pain as a side effect. I started making organic CBD salves and I feel great! Our neuropathy even went away after using my CBD salves. I have started my own company making the salves from plants that we grow organically indoors. It amazes me what this plant can do for people!

  • I have mitral valve prolapse I was born with. I control uneven beats with Cor-Gard. I tried CBD oil for less than a week to help with arthritis, fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease. It caused me to have skipped heartbeats 24/7. I have no idea if it was incompatible with my medication or if it causes problems with all MVP. Just something to pass on.

    • I also have MVP but am on a different Beta Blocker to control the palpitations. May I ask if you tried it orally or did you try it topically?

  • I have fibromyalgia and my daughter was recently diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome. The topic of CBD oil has come up over and over again with members of our family and friends. I have always been hesitant. Thank you for the information you have given! We have been in a search for answers, and this gives us one more option.

  • I’ve been taking CBD for almost 2 years for chronic hip pain and it works! I had to experiment with dosage until I found what works for me. I take 50mg twice a day. I buy from a company called CBDMD. You can always find a 20% coupon code online by searching CBDMD coupon code.

  • The entire country of Canada has now legalized CBD plus other marijuana extracts. It is now controlled by government & you can obtain it by prescription. I have suffered from Fibromyalgia pain & severe arthritis pain for many years. Since being accessed and approved 3 months ago I have been in much less pain. You start out as instructed with small dosage 3 times a day and gradually increase until your pain is covered. My doctor regulated the dosage for me. I have also found it to be great for anxiety & stress. Much better for us than major pain killers & anxiety meds with all their side effects.
    Great article Jill. Thank you.

  • I didn’t read anything about dosages. They have a 100, 300 and 600 mg. Why did you select this dosage rather than the other 2? What benefits/downside would there be to take the higher doses.

  • To answer the question on dosage. First it all depends on the strength of the CBD oil, they come as high as 1000mg. Generally it is 4-5 drops twice a day. Place under tongue and hold there for 60-90 seconds. The area under the tongue allows for faster absorption. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for sharing . My state also recently legalized medical marijuana. My work recently started carry the CBD products. I was a little unnerved at first because I thought it was the medical grade marijuana.. I’m glad the law change made it easier to get the oil. I’ve heard lots of stories of it helping folks with seizures.

    • I have mixed feelings about this being legalized. We know one lady/ who’s daughter used on her severely disabled child epilepsy..I remember hearing about how the daughter and granddaughter had to move to a state where it was legal in order to use it. It was the oil U think it was called Charlottes web or something similar that was showing results with people with epilepsy. That’s the only thing I can think of that’s good about having the marijuana legal for medical stuff.

      • CBD oil is from the Hemp plant, not the Marijuana plant. They are from the same “family”, but 2 different plants.

      • Sorry, Michelle but it appears the company you have been supporting in your various comments above had misinformed you in order to keep you purchasing their product.

The marketplace has BOTH Hemp Based CBD oil and Cannabis Based CBD oil. They’re both being sold, and both have the potential to ease some symptoms people experience, but are not the same thing (which unfortunately Jillee missed in her research ). To say they’re the same could be likened to cow milk and cat milk being the same. I tried to post a link explaining 7 differentiations between the two types of CBD in one of your other comments, but this page wouldn’t let me for some reason. If you’d like to know more, you can google “are hemp CBD and cannabis CBD oil the same?”

  • l get all that. Nothing I didn’t know but…there is nothing about dosage. Everyone seems to say CBD is great for all that you mentioned but nobody tells you how much to take. Any feedback on that would be greatly appreciated.

    • Just my opinion, but I think Jillee has given us a glimpse of her own research on a subject which many of us may have questioned. We now have the option to pursue further on our own if we feel this could help in our own situation. However, to know dosages is something that we would need to find out on our own via a reputable dispensary. I’m sure that’s why Jillee would never recommend a dosage to anyone.
I appreciate Jillee’s willingness to report on such topics.

  • I enjoy your site and use all your great information daily :) But your info on CBD today for me is not great at all. CBD is well known for epilepsy and now has a script for those who have excruciating attacks every minute. I have epilepsy not to that extent. I’m in WA . I’ve had growers friends and family since way back… Rick Simpson on FB Is a phenomenal human being who gives the recipe for CBD. You can decide level Sativa & Level Indica. Call shops in legal states for advice. The start of drops are size of grain of rice. I started with 15 drops per day and after a year am up to 40 a day. I took 6 seizure meds on a.m. & 6 seizure meds in p.m. now I am at 3am/3pm. Also go to magazines in legal states. They provide great advice as well. I researched for about 3 months before I started. Not 3 minutes!

  • I am 64 now and for the last 6 years have been hard pain wise. I need a hip replacement. The playlets in my knock and back are breaking down. I am over weight because I can not excercise or even walk for any length of time. My way of living has been greatly impacted. I haven’t gone to have it done because I live on the 2 nd floor with many stairs to climb. My son has a card to get the things you are talking about. He had a jar of salve for $30 in Michigan. Ohio is slow to jump on the band wagon. So. He saw the pain and how I cried and said try this. Never did I ever take drugs.. he said it’s not like that. So I used it on my hip. Instantly I felt better. On my aching shin not at all. But my foot with nerve damage it was the first time in 15 years the top of my foot didn’t ache. I do not want to have to put salve on me every day and as soon as my hip is replaced I will not have all this pain.
Bought a house and will be able to move in by the end of June. Husband coming home from active duty this week. Praise God. So the rest of June and I will be in the hospital being put back together while he musters our troop to put the house in shape and move everything in. I will be able to get a card to allow me to buy products and Cleveland is opening soon. It will be more than Michigan but when you factor in a 4 hour drive there and back and gas it evens out. All I know is it helped me to be free of most pain when I used it. It also helped me sleep. As it is 3:30 am as I write this I sure could use some now but he is sleeping so I will stay still and hope it helps.

    • Jody, I too am overweight and have had 10 surgeries in the past 6 years. Spine, knees and hip to name a few. If you are on Medicare (I am because of disability), and have a supplemental insurance company, it might include a membership to the Y or a gym. I go to my local Y for an Arthritis Aquatics Exercise class and a Silver Sneakers Exercise class. NOT Aquatic Aerobics! Exercise in the pool is non-weightbearing and helps tremendously! The Silver Sneakers exercises are mostly stretching and balance. I am the youngest one there (62) but I tell them that physically I am in my 80’s! I am hoping to try the CBD oil soon and am now trying to learn all that I can about it.
Thanks Jillee for the informative blog!!
