What Is A Jade Roller?
A jade roller is a tool used for facial massage. They usually have a larger stone on one end to use on your cheeks, jaw, and forehead, and a smaller stone on the other end to use around your eyes and mouth.
Why jade? The practice of jade rolling originated in 17th century China, in part because jade was believed to promote balance, peace, and healing. And while jade is traditional choice of stone for facial rollers, you can also find rollers with quartz, rose quartz, amethyst, and other stones.
But the real benefits of using a jade roller are less about the properties of gemstones and more about the physical act of facial massage. So let’s explore a few of the benefits facial massage with a jade roller!
3 Benefits Of Jade Rollers & Facial Massage
1. Tighten & Tone
Proponents of facial massage say that it can help tighten and tone your skin by increasing your skin’s natural elasticity. Increasing your skin’s elasticity can help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too.
2. Brighten Skin
Another benefit of facial massage is that it helps boost circulation, blood flow, and lymphatic drainage beneath your skin. Better circulation and drainage means brighter, more youthful skin!
3. Reduce Inflammation
Gemstones like jade feel cool to the touch, and that cooling effect can do wonders for reducing inflammation under your eyes. When used regularly, a jade roller can help fight dark circles under your eyes and general puffiness.

Then, starting at the center of your chin, roll up toward your lips and cheeks moving outward.

5 Bonus Tips For Using A Jade Roller
Tip #1: Be Gentle
You don’t have to put very much pressure on the roller. Using too much pressure can irritate your skin, so make sure to be gentle!
Tip #2: Refrigerate Your Roller

Tip #3: Use After Product
Some people choose to use their jade roller after applying a moisturizer or other type of skincare product to help it absorb better. (I like to use a little fractionated coconut oil with my jade roller to help it glide smoothly across my face!)
Tip #4: Keep It Clean
It’s extremely important to keep any facial tool clean, and jade rollers are no exception! Wipe it off with a damp microfiber cloth after each use, and wash in warm, soapy water once a week. Make sure to dry it thoroughly too!
Tip #5: Serenity Now!
Facial massage with a jade roller can be a great tool for relaxation, soothing away stress and even helping to relieve headaches! Try using your roller when you’re feeling stressed as a way to re-center yourself.
