It’s finally here! A national day of Thanksgiving and feasting! It’s something many of us look forward to all year long. The turkey, the stuffing, the pumpkin pie….closely followed by indigestion, bloating and general tummy troubles. Well, hopefully not…but it happens. So in case you fall victim to any of these ailments, I have a few options to help ease your post-Thanksgiving dinner discomfort.
The first is a simple one. Stay hydrated! A lot of the foods we eat at Thanksgiving are very salty, plus any spirits you might indulge in are very dehydrating as well. Make sure to drink lots of water throughout the day and for an added benefit, add a drop of Lemon essential oil to each glass for a gentle detox action. Keeping hydrated alone will make a huge difference in how you feel after a day of overindulgence.

If you do end up with some of the overindulgence ailments listed above, here is a blend to make to help relieve some of your distress.
Honey Tea with Essential Oils (or the “Food Coma” Blend)
- 10 drops Sweet Orange or Tangerine
- 2 drops Peppermint
- 2 drops Ginger
- 5 drops Lemon
- 3 drops Coriander
Add 2 to 3 drops of the blend with honey to a cup of hot water and sip until you feel your tummy settle.
You might want to multiply the recipe and keep a bottle handy throughout the holiday season. Can you say Company Christmas Party? :-)
