Over the years I have gone through a lot of essential oil bottles. Even when they’re empty, I can hardly stand the thought of getting rid of them because I don’t want to waste one precious drop! Apparently some of you feel the same way because I have had a lot of people asking what they can do with their empties. I like to remove the plastic drip stopper thingie…fill the empty EO bottle with some witch hazel…and then add a misting spray top to the bottle. Instant spritzer! Use as an air freshener/fabric refresher/mood lifter.
Another idea….next time you take a bath, fill your empty bottles with warm water from the faucet and empty into the bath water!

My sister keeps all her empties in a box for the grandkids to play with when they come over. They are always wanting to “play” with her essential oils anyway, this way they can handle them all they want without any risk of spilling the precious liquid. Added bonus, the aromatherapy benefits help to calm them when they come over. Calm grandkids mean happy grandparents. :-)
- For long car rides, keep some empty lavender oil bottles in the car for little kids to open & close and smell to keep them calm.
- Stuff a cotton ball or two inside an empty EO bottle to soak up any left over oil. Pull it out with a pair of tweezers and stick in the AC vent of your car as a makeshift diffuser. Or put in a drawer of clothes as a sachet.
Finally, I spotted this brilliant idea at Stuff Parents Need:
Disassemble empty EO bottles and add all the parts to a glass container filled with epsom salts.
The salts will absorb every last trace of essential oil and then you can use the salt for a great detox bath. Epsom salt is rich in magnesium which is extremely important to our overall health!
I’m always looking for MORE ideas…what do you do with your EO empties?
