Heart Shaped Biscuit Doughnuts

Since Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday this year I thought it would be fun to come up with some creative ideas for a Valentine’s breakfast that you can share with the whole family.

Ingredients:

  • can Canned Buttermilk Biscuit Dough
  • Large Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
  • Small Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
  • Rolling Pin
  • 4 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons Water
  • 2 tbsp Sprinkles
  • 2 red potatoes
  • 8 eggs
  • 32 oz lowfat milk
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 8 oz blueberries
  • 8 oz strawberries
  • 8 oz raspberries

Instructions:

To make doughnuts:

  1. Take one of the canned biscuits and use the large cookie cutter to cut the biscuit into the shape of a heart. Use the small cookie cutter to cut a hole in the middle. Put the donuts on a cookie sheet or plate and keep them in the fridge until you are ready to cook them.
  2. Fill a skillet with about half an inch deep with vegetable oil. Heat on medium until the oil is hot.
  3. Place your donuts into the oil and cook for about 30-45 seconds on each side or until golden brown.

To make glaze:

  1. Combine powdered sugar and water in a bowl and mix until smooth. Dip one side of the donuts into the glaze and place on a cookie sheet. Immediately add the sprinkles on top.
