Sparkling Ginger Limeade

I found this recipe for ginger limeade in a magazine, and since I am a fan of ginger I decided I needed to give it a try. I was not disappointed, and you won't be either!

  • 8 cups cold water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh lime juice about 6 limes
  • 4 cups chilled ginger ale


  • Mix 8 cups cold water, 2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup chopped fresh ginger in a pan over medium heat. Stir until all of the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Allow to cool completely and then strain. In a large pitcher combine the ginger sugar syrup, 1 1/2 cups fresh lime juice and 4 cups chilled ginger ale.
  • Serve over ice an garnish with lime slices (optional.)
