WAIT! STOP! DON’T LEAVE! I promise…the fact that there are black beans in this brownie recipe is a GOOD thing! :-) Not only are they moist and full of rich, chocolatey goodness…they are also protein-packed and gluten free! (But you can still make them with regular flour too!) No one will even NOTICE that they have black beans in them. Trust me, I’ve tested this out. Oh, and I almost forgot the best part…you can mix them up in your blender! No bowls or beaters required.

  • 3/4 cup Black beans cooked
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 2/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate toffee chips or chocolate chips optional
  • 1/2 cup Flour gluten-free
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt


  1. Puree the beans with the oil in a blender. 

  2. Add the eggs, cocoa, sugar, and vanilla. Blend until smooth. 

  3. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the blender and pulse until just incorporated. 

  4. Pour batter into baking pan. Top with chocolate and/or toffee chips (optional.) 

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. 

  6. Let cool at least 15 minutes before cutting and removing from the pan.
