Homemade Hot Chocolate Bomb Recipe

Drop one of these cocoa bombs into a mug, pour hot milk over the top, and watch the shell melt away for a fun and festive hot chocolate experience!

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces chocolate candy melts
  • 6 servings hot chocolate mix

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler, then pour a heaping tablespoon into the cavities of a half sphere silicone mold. Use the back of a spoon to spread it into an even layer.
    The first step for diy hot chocolate bombs is to spread melted chocolate in the molds.
  • Freeze the mold for 5-10 minutes to set the chocolate, then carefully release the chocolate cups from the mold.
    Put the molds in the freezer to harden, then pop the shells for your diy hot chocolate bombs out.
  • Fill half of the cups with a single serving of hot chocolate mix and any desired add-ins.
    Fill one half of the hot chocolate bomb shell with cocoa mix and any add-ins.
  • Attach the unfilled shells to the filled ones by melting the edge slightly, then holding two shells edge to edge to seal them together.
    To seal the two halves of the homemade chocolate bomb shells together, rub one on a hot plate until the chocolate is melty, then join it to the other half.
  • Decorate the sealed bombs if desired, then put them back in the freezer for 5 minutes to set.
    Drizzling your diy hot chocolate bombs with melted white chocolate makes them extra pretty and hides any defects.
  • Store the finished hot chocolate bombs at cool room temperature.
    Put your hot chocolate bombs in cellophane sacks and store them at room temperature.
