Spring is finally here, and I think it’s actually starting to warm up! The first thing I tend to do when the temperatures start rising in the spring is throw the windows open and let in some fresh air! (I personally believe that no air freshener can really compare to good ol’ fresh air.) But opening my windows also lets in more natural light, which starts illuminating all of the dirt, dust, and grime that I had been blissfully ignorant of during the low-light winter season. This is generally how spring cleaning gets started around here, because once I start noticing all the dust and grime, I can’t rest until it’s gone!
MY LATEST VIDEOS
But luckily for me, this year I have a new secret weapon that is going to make tackling my spring cleaning to-do list easier than ever. It’s called Powerizer, and it’s the world’s first 2-in-1 laundry and dishwasher detergent. But as impressive as that designation sounds, it only scratches the surface of just how useful this detergent can be! So I’ve teamed up with Powerizer to share how you can use this one amazing cleaning product to tackle almost every chore on your spring cleaning list this year.
1. General Cleaning
One of the most impressive things about Powerizer is that it can replace just about any cleaning spray in your arsenal. Just add 1 scoop of Powerizer to 16 ounces of hot water, and stir until the detergent dissolves. Pour it into a squeeze bottle to use. (A squeeze bottle is a better choice than a spray bottle when using Powerizer. When it’s mixed with water, the cleaner builds slight pressure that may prevent a spray bottle from working correctly.)
Powerizer is a cleaner you can feel good about using around your home, because it’s natural and free of harsh chemicals. It won’t aggravate allergies or irritate sensitive skin. Use your squeeze bottle of cleaning solution with a microfiber cloth or sponge to clean just about anything! Here are some ways to use it in your spring cleaning:
- Tile and grout
- Tub and shower
- Cabinet doors
- Stovetop
- Mirrors and windows
- Walls and baseboards
- Garbage can
- Refrigerator
2. Pre-Treat Soiled Fabrics
Spring cleaning isn’t just about cleaning surfaces. It’s also a great opportunity to tackle those laundry projects you’ve been putting off! This includes cleaning fabrics that are particularly oily, greasy, or heavily-soiled. These items aren’t likely to come clean in just a regular wash cycle, at least not until you pre-treat them with Powerizer!
Pre-treating with Powerizer will oxidize and dissolve tough stains and oils, which will help them come out clean the first time you wash them. Just add 1 scoop of Powerizer to 1 gallon of hot water and stir. Soak your greasy or heavily soiled items for about 6 hours. Then wring some of the water out, toss it in your laundry, and wash as usual. Here are a a few items you may want to pre-treat during your spring cleaning:
- Rugs
- Oily pillowcases
- Heavily soiled clothes
3. Clean Serving Dishes
You wash your everyday dishes frequently, but what about the dishes you only use once in a while? Spring cleaning is the perfect time to pull out your serving platters, nice flatware, and special occasion dishes to give them a good cleaning. And Powerizer makes cleaning them easier than ever!
Powerizer makes a great dishwasher detergent, because it binds calcium and magnesium that other detergents leave behind. You’ll end up with sparkling clean dishes with no water spots or stains left behind, without needing to use any additional rinse aids or detergent boosters. (And yes, that also applies to those of us who have hard water!) Simply use ¾ of a scoop of Powerizer in place of your usual dishwashing detergent. Here are a few things you can spring clean with Powerizer in your dishwasher:
- Serving bowls
- Platters
- Jars and storage containers
4. Wash Linens
Washing fabrics and linens tends to be a big focus of mine during spring cleaning. Once the weather gets nicer, I can’t stand having musty and dusty fabrics around the house! This year I’ll be using Powerizer to wash my linens, so they’ll be clean, fresh-smelling, and free of residues and overpowering perfumes!
To use Powerizer as a laundry detergent, add 1 scoop to each load of laundry. It removes stains, cleans, and softens fabric without the need for additional laundry boosters or fabric softeners. Here are a few things on my spring washing list this year:
- Curtains
- Tablecloths
- Bed sheets
- Duvet covers
- Pillow covers
5. Clean Carpet & Upholstery
Earlier I mentioned that natural light tends to illuminate dirt and grime around my house. The same issue also extends to my carpets and upholstered furniture! In the spring I start noticing stains and discoloration that I was able to ignore during the winter. But with Powerizer I can tackle those unsightly stains without needing to buy any special carpet or upholstery cleaners!
To treat carpet or upholstery, add 1 scoop of Powerizer to 16 ounces of hot water and stir. Pour the solution into a squeeze bottle and apply to stains on carpet or upholstery. Wait 5 minutes, then blot the stain with a clean, wet cloth to remove the dirt and rinse the cleaner out. When the dirt is gone or the stain has disappeared, blot with a clean, dry cloth. Here are a few spring cleaning tasks you can tackle with this solution:
- Pet stains on carpet
- High traffic areas
- Upholstery stains
- Car floor mats

Hu. I try to order. Added my card and I tried it a few time. Not sure what happen but would love to use this on hard water issues I have I did see they have a sample and that worked. Is this going to be an auto order which is out of our control or its just order when we need more. Thanks 4 help. Love all you greatest tips.
They do not have any auto order, you just buy a bag at a time :-)
Thanks for this post. I bought 2 containers. I have used it in my dishwasher and I love it. My glasses are finally sparkling clean. I also used it to soak stained tea towels and did a good job on most of the stains (some were really old). Thanks
I’m so glad!
I’m sorry to say this, but I bought this product and it doesn’t work very well. My dishes came out of the dishwasher with a weird coating on them. I ran them through a second time and the same thing happened only the coating was thicker. I also used the detergent in the clothes washer and the clothing wasn’t any cleaner than if I used my regular detergent. Also it has to be placed into the front load washer with the clothes. The first time I tried it I put it in the detergent dispenser on my HE washer and… Read more »
I’m so sorry Jeanie! Did you try it for any stain removal, upholstery, etc.? I really love this product and I’m sure you can find a way to use what you have left!
Hi, I am trying to order and there is no way to get free shipping?? I followed the directions that you gave to Anne below exactly as stated. Is it over?? I am in CA. What can I do?
It’s not over! Email at jill@byjillee if you’re having any problems :-)
Ordered on your glowing recommendations and others’ comments; however, could NOT get the OGT free shipping, so then tried a WikiBuy code and it was not accepted either??? Disappointed about that, but anxious to try the product.
Hi Anne! For the free shipping, you simply have to click on the link in this post. Just click on the pink, underlined words “use this link,” and your order will automatically have no shipping cost added :-)
Tried that and it didn’t work
That’s odd. Do you happen to live outside of the United States?
No, I live in Mississippi
Did you go through to the checkout? You won’t see anything about the free shipping until you checkout, and the cost of shipping will be blank. If you’re still having trouble, send me a screenshot by email at jill@byjillee.com :-) Thanks, Anne, and sorry for the hassle!
It’s too late now — I proceeded to order and paid shipping. Should be delivered today — anxious to give it a good try !
I hope you love it!
Jillee – Do you know – What are the two blue balls with little ‘spikes’ on them used for? I wrote the company and asked and they never responded. I got them with my shipment with no explanation as to their use.
Hmm, I don’t think I received anything like that. You could send a picture of them to me at jill@byjillee.com :-)
For your dryer- throw them in with clothes for static- i also use them for my goose down comforters to keep them fluffed
Not great for the dishwasher. Inferior to my other chemical-free products. I tried to review on their website and it never showed up. I had a three-star review. Makes me wonder about the numerous 5-star reviews.
I tried Powerizer on some shower doors and IT did all the work! I LOVE it, Jillee!!! Thanks for putting it out there for us!!! I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed with other products (cleaners) and natural things and they just didn’t do a good job. This just seemed to melt the soap scum off and I can’t “thank you” enough!!!! Happy in Hernando!!!!!
Yay! I’m glad you loved it as much as I did Trish :-)
and yes, red looks great on you!
so far, have not been too impressed after i bought it, maybe I am using it wrong??
That’s really weird – I’ve always had great results with it! Just give it some time to sit after applying :-)
