These 5 Cleaning Apps Want To Make Your Life Easier

cleaning apps

You don’t have to live and die by your smartphone to recognize that our devices (and the apps on them) can make life a lot easier. Personally, I rely heavily on the Calendar app on my iPhone to remind me of just about everything, and I use Audible to stay entertained while I do the dishes and fold laundry.

But recently I discovered a whole new category of apps that I didn’t even know existed previously—cleaning apps! After doing some research on the different apps that exist to help make housework easier, I thought I would share some of my favorites with you today! (After all, who couldn’t use a little help when it comes to housework?) :-)

So today I’m going to introduce you to a few of my new favorite cleaning apps, in the hopes that one (or more!) of them will make your life a little easier! And as always, if you have a favorite app that isn’t mentioned on this list, please share it with us in a comment at the end of this post!

5 Cleaning Apps That Will Make Your Life Easier

1. Do!

Do! is the perfect house cleaning app for old school folks who are wont to use a pen and paper—it even has a pen and paper sound effect—and who don’t need a bunch of fancy bells or whistles. With the simplicity of its design, it’s easy to use Do! to add tasks and use its color-coded system to stay organized. Although you’ll have to put up with ads on this free-to-use app, it’s a simple solution that does the trick for most.

Do! is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

2. OurHome

If, like me, delegating household chores is not your strong suit, then the OurHome app could be your new favorite! OurHome allows you to easily create, assign, and track different chores among the members of your household, making it easy to hold everyone accountable.

Additionally, OurHome enables you to design your own incentive system to reward those who have completed their chores (or deduct rewards from those who haven’t.) It’s only fair that everyone does their part when it comes to household chores, and using OurHome can make the logistics much easier!

3. ThinkDirty

If avoiding harsh chemicals and using environmentally-friendly ingredients is important to you, the ThinkDirty app is for you! Use the app to scan the barcodes of your favorite cleaning products, either at home or while you’re out shopping, and it will alert you of any potential risks associated with that product or the ingredients in it.

While ThinkDirty was originally designed to offer information on beauty and personal care products, the addition of cleaning products to its database has made it even more useful. And with more than 22,000 reviews on the Apple App Store and an average rating of 4.8 stars, this is clearly an app that people love to use!

4. Tody

The Tody app can help both iOS and Android users easily manage household cleaning tasks while making them more fun too. In addition to its encouraging notifications, the app also offer the chance to claim credit for your actions. It does cost $6.99, but you won’t see any ads and it offers plenty of value in terms of useful features.

One user says: “I love this app! My house has never been so clean. You don’t realize sometimes that something you thought you did ‘last week’ was really last month. This app really helps me keep track of less frequent tasks that tend to get forgotten.

5. TaskRabbit

Maybe your struggle isn’t with getting organized or keeping track of things—maybe you just need an extra set of hands! Enter TaskRabbit, an app that connects you with skilled and vetted “Taskers” to help you tackle your to-do list. Popular TaskRabbit tasks include no-contact errands, delivery, shopping, cleaning, furniture assembly, and even moving.

A few months ago I used a similar app to hire someone to assemble a new recliner (and remove an old one) for my mother-in-law who lives in North Dakota. The whole process went so smoothly, and Dorothy loved having all the logistics taken care of beforehand. I’m sure the experience would have been just as positive through the TaskRabbit app, especially since they back up every task with their “Happiness Pledge!”

While I’m sure there are plenty more helpful cleaning and homemaking apps out there, these 5 are some of the best of the best I’ve learned about so far! They have already proven to be a big help to me in my housework, and I’m sure you’ll find them just as useful as I do!

Do you use any apps to help with cleaning or household chores?

  1. I have an app that I absolutely love to use. It’s called Tody and it’s designed to track when certain chores are due, for example monthly or 6-monthly chores as well as daily, weekly, etc. I have it on Android but it is available for Apple. I pay $6.99 for a yearly subscription (Australia).

  2. Please remember there are more Android users than Apple ones. Please include Android apps for those of us using a different platform.

    • I’d love to look at Spotless, but no Android version appears to be available. I’m too frugal to pay Apple prices for a device that will do the same thing as an Android. I did get Think Dirty to check that one out.

    • Nadine, Landon and all other Android users, please accept my apology for leaving out Android Apps. My OGT Plus Community Manager has an Android and she has shared these apps for Android with me:
Similar to Spotless – Clean My House
Similar to Laundry Day – Laundry Pro

The other Apps are available in the Google Play Store. Hope this helps! :-)

  3. I love your site but the ads are jut TOO MUCH! They make the page jump all around, get in the way and sometimes I just give up and leave.

      • Thanks for suggesting OGT Plus, Kathleen!

    • If you use Firefox as your browser go to Tools, go to Add-ons, type AdBlockerPlus in the search bar and tell it to add. You can open any site without ads. Some sites, such as news outlets, will have you turn your adblocker off to view their site. You simply tap the AdBlockerPlus logo in the top corner of the screen and tell it to allow ads on that page & it will refresh the page and you can view it. I see no ads here using this add-on.

    • Ellie, I know seeing so many ads can be frustrating. Unfortunately, these ads are what allows my team and I to provide all of the great content to you for free. The ads seem to be the most disruptive on a mobile phone. I would suggest that you view it on a computer or iPad.

You may want to check out OGT Plus. One of the benefits is viewing our content ad free and you have access to all of my eBooks at no cost! There are many other benefits as well.
