A little over a year ago I did a post about The Wonders of Ordinary Epsom Salt….and I mean WONDERS! I couldn’t believe how many benefits there were to be gained by using this natural mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. From a therapeutic bath soak to fertilizing your garden…this is a “salt” that no home should be without.
Today I found one MORE way to use this miracle “salt” that incorporates another amazing product I love…coconut oil! I can’t believe I never thought to combine the two. But thankfully Tiffany of The Coconut Mama did! I have a favorite scrub for my hands after gardening…but I haven’t really found a great all-over body scrub…until now that is! And it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Now that colder weather has started rearing its ugly head around here (it was below freezing last night!) my super sensitive, super dry skin is starting to complain. So I decided to take Tiffany’s scrub and add my go-to essential oil for skin troubles…Lavender…and I think I am in love!
Homemade Lavender Coconut Oil Salt Scrub
- 2 cups coconut oil (I used Tropical Traditions Organic Virgin Coconut Oil)
- 1 cup Epsom salt
- 20 drops Lavender essential oil
Add coconut oil, epsom salt, and essential oil to a small bowl and mix with a spoon until well combined. Store in a container with a tight-fitting lid until ready to use.
(Note: make sure the bottom of the bathtub or shower is oil-free when you are done so the next person in doesn’t get a slippery surprise.)
Now I can get the magnesium boosting effects of Epsom salt, the moisturizing effects of coconut oil, and the skin calming effects of Lavender all in one!
