This Blender BBQ Sauce Is Unbelievably Easy And Delicious

This blender BBQ sauce is easy and delicious, so you can have bbq beef sandwiches quick!

A Delicious Homemade BBQ Sauce That’s Ready In Seconds

When I was a girl, I loved most of the food my mom made, but I was always particularly excited when she made ribs with homemade BBQ sauce. Mom’s BBQ sauce was thick, sweet, and slightly tangy — exactly how I like it!

I didn’t find out that her recipe had a bonafide secret ingredient — prunes baby food — until my siblings and I were teenagers. (Knowing how we would have reacted to that knowing that were eating a fruit puree for babies, I can’t say I blame her for keeping that a secret as long as she did!)

With it being grilling season, I thought I’d share my take on my mom’s easy BBQ sauce recipe here in this post! Grab your blender and a few simple ingredients, and you’ll be seconds away from a delicious sauce that’s sure to steal the show at your next backyard barbecue.

How To Make Blender BBQ Sauce

You need a blender, brown sugar, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper, liquid smoke, pepper, garlic powder and baby food prunes for this bbq sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2-1 cup brown sugar (for a sweeter sauce, use the higher amount)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 (2 1/2 ounce) container prunes baby food (my mom’s secret ingredient!)
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
Put all the bbq sauce ingredients in the blender and process until smooth.

Directions:

Put all the ingredients in your blender, then blend until smooth. At that point, you can either warm the sauce on your stove or use it as is. And that’s it!

The secret ingredient to this blender bbq sauce is baby food prunes!

Additions & Substitutions

The recipe above is great as is, but don’t be afraid to add or swap ingredients to make it your own! You can add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne to give it a bit more heat, use less brown sugar, add more garlic — whatever sounds good to you!

One of the great things about this BBQ sauce recipe is that you can make a big batch of it and freeze whatever you won’t use right away. (I suggest pouring the extra sauce into an ice cube tray and freezing it, then transferring the frozen cubes to a ziplock freezer bag!)

Add this blender bbq sauce to shredded meat of any kind for delicious bbq sandwiches.

What Can I Put Blender BBQ Sauce On?

Brush this easy BBQ sauce on grilled chicken and serve with a fresh salad for a perfect summertime meal. I also love this sauce on a homemade BBQ chicken salad with black beans, corn, red onion, and ranch dressing. So good!

You can brush blender BBQ sauce on meatloaf and burgers, add it to shredded pork or chicken for sandwiches, and even stir into some mayo to make a tangy dip for french fries and onion rings. It’s also great on delicious BBQ chicken pizza too!

  4. This DIY sauce would be delish on BBQ pulled pork or even w/ mayo on a baked potato. Another one good thing that would be great cuz it’s made in our kitchens and made in a Blendtec would be really sweet!
Thanks for this chance to a great giveaway!

  5. Hmm… Favorite BBQ sauce? Don’t really have one. Whatever is in my pantry is usually what I use, but I love to go out to eat at Famous Dave’s and eat theirs. Not sure why I never thought to make my own. Such a fantastic idea! I will definitely have to give it a try sans Blendtec since I don’t have one. But, maybe I’ll win one! Wouldn’t that be grand? Thank you for sharing your Great Things each day.

  6. My favorite is Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ. I have been trying to steer clear of products that are pre-made and trying to make everything from scratch. A new blender would definitely be helpful! ;)

  9. Swt Baby Ray but like many, I’m trying to cut unseen sugar. Thanks for your recipe, I’m going to give it a try!

  10. We love BBQ chicken, pork, beef…LOVE! But the hubster is always complaining that the BBQ sauces from the store are too sweet. I don’t mind it, and the kids don’t seem to mind, but I think he always wishes it were more savory and less sweet. Can’t wait to try this!

And hey…if I win a Blendtec, it won’t break my heart, either! ;)

  11. I happen to like a BBQ that isn’t that sweet, so I like a more vinegar-based sauce. I like it tangy!

  13. My mom loves the BBQ sauce at Burger King. She says she could drink it. I personally can’t stand it and have never liked it.

  14. My husbands recipe is the best I have ever had. He would love this blender. He was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, due to trying to quit smoking and taking Chantix. So, the fact that your recipe has less sugar is a plus. What a hardship on a chef who loves food but doesn’t want to give up on flavor. Can’t wait to make this for him!

  15. I also love a BBQ sauce which is homemade from a family recipe. It’s always easier to whip it up yourself whenever you need it instead of trying to keep a store bought version on hand. And it’s certainly a plus that I know what’s in it! :-) thanks for sharing your recipe, Jillee, and giving me new ideas :-)
