There isnโt much you can do about the size of your closet without committing to a major renovation, but there are plenty of simple ways to make the most of your closet space. The brilliant soda tab closet hack I’m sharing with you today is one of them, and the best thing about this simple organizing solution may be the price tag โ itโs free!
How To Use Soda Tabs To Maximize Your Closet Space
The tip is simple: remove the tab from a canned drink, slip it over the hook of a hanger, and then hook a second hanger on the other end of the tab. Maximize your space even further by adding another drink tab and hanger (as shown above).
Not only is this solution incredibly simple, but it’s also effective! Canned drink tabs are sturdy enough to hold a considerable amount of weight, and using them to daisy-chain hangers together helps take advantage of the vertical space in your closet. With just two soda tabs, you can hang three items in your closet without using more horizontal space than a single hanger requires.
Bonus Tip: Use Soda Tabs To Plan Outfits
Another great application for this hack is using it to plan outfits. Whenever I have to wake up early, I choose my outfit the night before and use soda tabs to hang the various pieces of my outfit in one place. It saves me so much time and stress while I’m getting ready the next morning. If you have school-age kids, try this tip to streamline your mornings!
What’s your best tip for making the most of a small closet?

Please don’t do this: head over to your nearest hardware store and pick up some large-link plastic chain for a dollar or two. Use THAT instead.
Pop-top tabs have sharp metal edges which catch on garments, especially fine fabrics.

If you can’t remember the last time you wore a particular clothing item, donate it, because you’re likely never going to wear it again.

Instead, take your largest clothes hanger (the one with the biggest / thickest hook) to your local hardware store. Head over to the plastic chains area and buy either a few links (for a trial run) or a few yards. It’s cheap.
Use these intead, please. if need be, you can easily cut the plastic links at home using a side-cutter (another type of pliers).
