I began writing One Good Thing by Jillee just a year or so after Pinterest launched back in 2010. And I started my Pinterest account around the same time that I started my blog, so I consider myself something of a Pinterest “power user” at this point! ;-) I still scroll through my Pinterest feed whenever I’m in need of inspiration for a project, a recipe for dinner, or sometimes just to pass the time.
As many of you veteran Pinterest users probably know, there are certain pins that are so popular, you eventually start noticing them everywhere! They’re constantly being pinned, re-pinned, tagged, and shared. I always get a little thrill of excitement whenever I come across one of my own pins somewhere on Pinterest. And it certainly comes as no surprise to me that many of the most popular OGT pins of all time are cleaning hacks!
So since I’ve had these popular pins on my mind, I thought that’s what I would share with you all today! Below you’ll find 11 of my cleaning hacks that have been consistently popular on Pinterest over the years. These are some of my best, most trusted tips, and I hope they can be as much help to you as they have been to me! :-)

My 11 Most Popular Cleaning Hacks On Pinterest
1. Kitchen Cabinet Cleaner & Gunk Remover
There are few kinds of gunk that are more tricky to clean than the gunk the builds up on your kitchen cabinet doors. It’s typically a combination of cooking oils, grease, dirt, and dust, and together they form an infuriatingly stubborn layer of grime on your cabinets. But never fear, because that’s where my two-ingredient kitchen cabinet cleaner comes in! You won’t believe how good your cabinets look when you’re done!
2. Use A Lemon To Clean Your Cutting Board
It’s crucial to keep your wood cutting board clean and sanitary to prevent bacteria from becoming a problem. But not everyone wants to use harsh commercial cleaners, especially on surfaces used for food prep. But there’s an easy and all-natural way to keep your cutting board sanitary, and all you need is a lemon and some coarse salt. It’s a safe and fresh-smelling way to keep your cutting board free of bacteria.
3. Clean And Descale Your Shower Head
Hard water can leave mineral deposits and hard water stains all over your bathroom. It’s particularly problematic when those mineral deposits form on your shower head, because they can slow the flow of water and prevent it from working properly. But on the bright side, you can easily remove those stubborn deposits by soaking your shower head in vinegar, which will dissolve those deposits in no time with little-to-no scrubbing required.
4. Clear A Clogged Sink Drain
If your kitchen sink is draining slowly, you could have greasy food residue clogging up your pipes. But before you spend a fortune on a plumber, try my quick and easy hack for clearing a clogged sink drain. With the help of baking soda, vinegar, and little of chemistry, you may be able to clear out the clog and fix your draining issue fast!
5. Clean And Freshen Your Mattress
Thanks to nighttime sweating and dead skin cells, our mattresses can start to look and smell less-than-fresh over time. But there’s a really simple method you can use to clean and freshen up your mattress fast! The process involves sprinkling baking soda and essential oils onto your bare mattress to help draw out moisture and odor. Let it sit for a while, then vacuum up the powder for a cleaner, fresher mattress.
6. Clean Your Microfiber Couch
Microfiber upholstery is great for its durability, but it’s not so great at hiding dirt or spills. Luckily for us, microfiber is surprisingly easy to clean if you have the right tools! Grab some rubbing alcohol, a sponge, and a microfiber cloth, and prepare to be amazed at how clean your microfiber furniture can really be.
7. Reusable Swiffer Pads
Lightweight sweepers and dry mops (like the Swiffer Sweeper, for example) can be really convenient and useful for keeping your floors clean, but buying all those disposable pads can feel like a waste of both resources and your hard-earned cash. For a cheaper and more sustainable alternative, replace those pads with a fuzzy chenille sock. The sock will trap dust and dirt just as effectively, and you can just toss it in the wash when you’re done!
8. Dust Your Blinds Quickly With Tongs
Dusting the blinds has always been one of my least favorite chores simply because of how time-consuming it can be, but one of my personal favorite cleaning hacks makes this chore go by twice as fast! Just wrap a couple of microfiber cloths around the ends of your kitchen tongs, secure them in place with rubber bands, and use your handy duster tool to dust both sides of each slat at once! You’ll have all your blinds dust-free in no time.
9. Clean The Inside Of Your Slow Cooker
Spills and splatters happen, even in your trusty crockpot, which can result in unsightly baked-on spills inside the base unit of your slow cooker. But you don’t have to work up a sweat scrubbing those stains away when there’s a much easier way to clean them—just pour a splash of ammonia into your slow cooker, put the lid on, and walk away for a few hours. When you come back, those baked-on spills will be much easier to wipe clean!
10. How To Clean Your Dishwasher
A clean dishwasher is a happy dishwasher, but your dishwasher won’t stay clean on its own! In fact, the inside of your dishwasher can get bogged down with greasy deposits and other food gunk over time, so it’s important to give it a good cleaning every few months to keep it running well. Check out the instructions at the link above for a super simple method that will leave the inside of your dishwasher sparkling clean.
11. The Easy Way To Clean Your Stove Burners
Is it even possible to keep stove burners and burner pans clean? My own track record is pretty dismal, so my vote is a hard “no.” But it is possible to clean them up, and it’s actually easier than you’d think! With a bit of ammonia, a few ziplock bags, and some patience, you can have your stove burners and pans cleaned up with very little effort on your part! (And really, who can say no to hands-free cleaning hacks?)
