6 Sales And Deals To Watch For In October

October is here, which means it’s time to share the best sales and deals to watch for in October. If it seems as though this month’s list is a bit shorter than usual, that’s because many retailers already have their hands full preparing for next month’s Black Friday sales.

October Is The Best Month To Buy

Those super steep discounts won’t crop up for another few weeks, but there are still a handful of great deals you can take advantage of this month. So without further ado, here are 6 things you can snag for a great price during October.

October Is The Best Month To Buy…

October Is The Best Month To Buy

1. Jeans

As the back-to-school shopping season comes to an end, retailers will be looking to get rid of their leftover stock this month. You can find great discounts on denim jeans in particular — you may not have the biggest selection of sizes or styles to choose from, but if you’ve been needing a new pair of jeans, now is a great time to buy!

2. Winter Coats

It might not feel like it right now, but as the Starks say in Game of Thrones, “Winter is coming!” And October is the perfect time to stock up on winter coats and other cold-weather clothes. You’ll have tons of sizes and styles to choose from this month, and prices will be pretty good too. (Prices will drop again in the spring, but you’ll be picking through the leftovers if you wait that long!)

3. Patio Furniture

This month is a goldmine for deals on outdoor furniture. The outdoor season is wrapping up, so home improvement stores and other outdoor furniture retailers will be making room for holiday decorations and winter tools. If you’ve had your eye on a new patio set or a few new outdoor chairs, you’re likely to save quite a bit if you buy them this month!

4. Pizza & Tacos

October is a great month for fans of pizza and tacos (which includes just about everyone, I think.) National Taco Day is coming up on October 4th, so keep an eye out for free or discounted tacos that day at your favorite taco joint!

As far as pizza goes, you can celebrate all month long, because October is National Pizza Month! Look out for pizza-related deals and freebies in your area. Most deals like these are announced through social media, so be sure to look up your favorite pizza places on Facebook or Instagram!

5. Cars

Car sales don’t get much better than the ones you’ll find this month. The new models are just starting to roll out, so many dealers are still trying to clear out last year’s models. While Columbus Day sales tend to come with particularly good prices and incentives, waiting until the end of the month may help you catch a car salesperson eager to meet their quota before the end of the quarter!

6. Halloween Costumes

If you’re looking for a killer deal, the best time to buy Halloween costumes is actually after Halloween. But if you need a costume for a party this month, wait until about 2 weeks before the 31st. That’s when you’ll start seeing markdowns and discounts!

What deals are you most excited about this month?

  1. Interesting about the coats. We usually get our coats after Christmas when they are marked 50 percent off. I got my nice one for $50,but the original price was $200.:So sometimes it pays to wait. And there was still a lot of coats left.

    • Try the”Kissing Booth”!! Build yourself a small box a la Peanuts with a child’s form of printing up top that states what you are and a price! I did that last year & was able to wear relatively comfortable clothing, tho I did dress up a little! But not to over the top sexy! I also put in small print that I had the right to refuse service! Duct tape a small jar/container for the $$ jar/tips! I won the prize at the local Halloween dinner/dance. I was somewhat smarter than the average best tho and made sure I built a box that I was able to move easily, sit and dance in! Oh! And had a hubby with a good sense of humor! By the end of the night I had collected over $50 !
      Have fun!

  3. Why didn’t you include appliances? You have it on your Jan – Dec list. Are appliances no longer considered a “good buy” in October?

    • That would make sense since October is the month many people do upgrades to their kitchens before the holidays.

    • Appliances hit a lot of different price points throughout the year. They go sale in the Spring for wedding season, and in September for back-to-school season. And many of them will go on sale again for Black Friday!

In the “full year” post, I mentioned appliance in October as a carry-over from any September deals. Those leftovers may still be available, but you’re better off waiting for Black Friday at this point. That’s why I decided not to include them in this post. :-)
