The Best Vacuum For Your Money (And Other Great Vacs)

best vacuums 2022

Whenever I buy a new vacuum, I put quite a bit of time and effort into researching my options, because Iโ€™ve had enough crummy vacuums over the years to know it’s not a decision I should make lightly. (After all, the more I like my vacuum, the more likely I am to use it and use it often!)

Related: How To Clean And Maintain Your Vacuum

I thought Iโ€™d put some of my recent research to good use by sharing some of the best vacuums with you in this post. If youโ€™re in the market for a vacuum or are interested in upgrading, consider this a convenient starting point for your search!

The Best Vacuums For Your Home And Budget In 2025

Best Value Vac: BISSELL CleanView Swivel Pet Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Price: $118

This is one of the bestselling vacuums on Amazon, and has been for a while. Between the rave reviews and low price, I simply had to give it a try for myself to find out if it actually lived up to the hype. (This vacuum does go on sale frequently, too, so you may be able to get it for even less!)

amazon vacuum

Personally, I believe the hype is warranted! I was surprised by how powerful the suction felt as soon as I turned the vacuum on, and I was impressed by how easy it was to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles.

amazon vacuum

For the price, I didnโ€™t expect that this vacuum would have much to offer by way of accessories, but it comes with all the basics! It even includes a pet hair brush that seems every bit as effective (if not more so) than others Iโ€™ve used in the past.

Ultimately, I think that if youโ€™re looking for an upright corded vacuum that works well and you donโ€™t want to spend a fortune on it, this is pretty close to an ideal candidate!

Best Cordless For Big Homes: Dyson Outsize+ Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

Price: $599

Dyson vacuums arenโ€™t exactly budget-friendly, but if you have a lot of flooring to keep clean and donโ€™t want to deal with a power cord, the Dyson Outsize+ could be worth the splurge. Thanks to its full-size cleaner head and full-size dust cup, it’s essentially a lightweight cordless vacuum with the with the ability and capacity of a traditional upright model.

The improved battery in this model gives it a run time of 120 minutes, and when you factor in its advanced filtration system and array of useful included accessories, itโ€™s hard to think of anything you could want in a vacuum that the Dyson Outsize+ doesnโ€™t have!

amazon vacuum

Best Cordless For Quick Cleanup: Tineco A11 Pet Cordless Lightweight Stick Vacuum

Price: $289

If youโ€™re looking for a lightweight cordless vacuum in a more approachable price range, the Tineco A11 Pet deserves a closer look. With a runtime of up to 40 minutes, this model’s battery should give you more than enough time to tackle the floors in a smaller home or apartment.

Like other stick vacuums, you can remove the main tube and power brush to convert it to a handheld vac to clean out cars, vacuum the stairs, and more. The reviews for this vacuum are filled with happy customers, so itโ€™s an option worth considering if youโ€™re looking for a budget-friendly cordless vacuum!

amazon vacuum

Best Robot: eufy RoboVac 11S

Price: $140

While some robot vacuums cost $500 or more, itโ€™s not impossible to find a good one at an affordable price. In fact, youโ€™ve just found one: the eufy RoboVac 11S. :-)

If the eufy brand doesnโ€™t sound familiar, you may be more familiar with its parent company Anker, which specializes in computer and phone accessories. Their eufy brand offers an array of home security products, smart home solutions, and vacuums like the highly-rated RoboVac 11S.

At just under 3โ€ tall, itโ€™s one of the slimmest robot vacuums on the market, and features quiet operation and plenty of suction. And when the battery is low, this robot vacuum will return to its charging station without you needing to lift a finger.

amazon vacuum

The Takeaway

Quite honestly, I would be happy to own and use any of these vacuums! But if youโ€™re not picky about features and just want a good vacuum at a good price, you really canโ€™t beat the BISSELL CleanView.

Iโ€™ll continue to keep my eye on the latest vacuum models so I can update this post to help keep you in the loop! Because cleaning is already a chore, and if buying a decent vacuum makes it even just a little bit easier, I say that’s money well spent! :-)

  1. I like all THREE of my vacuums. I have a Black & Decker hand vac for quick above-the-floor pickups, such as kitchen counter coffee ground spills, a Eureka Mighty Mite canister for large above-floor jobs, and a Shark Rotator stick vac for quick floor pickups. The cost of the three of them COMBINED didn’t add up to ONE Dyson or even ONE Tineco! Dysons are RIDICULOUSLY expensive!!

  2. The Bissell is no longer available. Is there any comparable models or a replacement model?

  3. I have two Tineco’s (still less than half the price of a Dyson for both). I keep one in either end of the house. That way I never have very far to grab my vac. Had them for many years. As for a robot vac the Eufy is hard to beat. I bought one for my grandson and his girlfriend a year and a half ago and it’s still going strong.

  4. My late husband did all of the vacuuming, I literally did not touch a vacuum cleaner for 19 years. I didn’t know how to work the machine that we had, I couldn’t find any where he put any of the attachments, and it was too heavy for me so I bought a new Shark and I love it. It is light weight, powerful (it actually sucked one of my socks off of my foot when I was using it!), and it is so easy to keep clean. Best of all it was affordable at under $200.

  5. You canโ€™t go wrong with a Shark. I got mine at Costco for under $200 in 2021. This summer I had a bizarre problem of yellowjackets nesting in our crawl space, getting in through a little space where a pipe came out through the wall. In a desperate measure to disrupt the nest and reduce the population, I set up my Shark vacuum cleaner so the nozzle sucked them up as they were going in and out. I ran it for hours at a time, for days on end. Sucked up a few thousand โ€˜jackets. Thought the vacuum cleaner had given up the ghost at one point. Nope. It had just overheated in the direct sun on a very hot day. Itโ€™s still going strong. Yeah, Iโ€™d go on tv for my Shark.

    • Yeah a lot of people like the Shark. They actually are selling one on HSN now for about 149 it has a lot of attachments, one actually will go under a stove or refrigerator!

  6. I’ve never commented but couldn’t resist this one. I bought a Shark Lift-Away 5 years ago. It has been great, picks up everything, easy to empty, swivels a little. I love the lift away when it comes to doing 17 carpeted stairs. I broke vertebrae in my back, and this is the least uncomfortable vacuum to use now that I’m back to doing my own housework. By the way I passed 80 with the New Year (2022)

    • Claudia, thank you for taking the time to comment! I hope I see more comments from you in the future. I appreciate you sharing this information about the Shark Lift Away. By the way, age is just a number! 80+ years young! :-)

  7. I am very surprised that the shark vacuum wasnt mentioned anywhere in this. That all I have used for the past 6 years or more and I love them! they do a great job at picking up the finer carpet particles, and have the dust/debris cup so no bags are necessary. The only thing that I dislike about the sharks are the attachments. The handheld motorized attachment just doesnt cut it much, seems weak compared to other similar attachments I’ve owned. The price is more than the Bissel mentioned here, but as I am a fiend when it comes to owning a good vacuum, I may go ahead and try the Bissel to see how it compares as I have several cats which leave a lot of fur behind.

  8. I’m not sure what the draw is to the robot ‘vacuums’. My Mom had one. There is no vacuum (suction), at least not in hers or any I’ve seen since. They run a little brush that sweeps crumbs into a cup, that’s it. No appreciable amount of dirt and pet hair. I watched Moms’ roomba chase an M&M for 15 minutes and never did get it LOL, even she had to laugh at that.

  9. I just replaced my Dyson Cinetic Big Ball with the BISSELL Cleanview Swivel Pet Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner. I loved the Dyson at first, but I have several pets and it didnโ€™t take long before thee vacuum to smell like dog. I took it apart frequently and cleaned all of the parts but it still emitted a strong dog odor when I turned it on. The Dyson was over $500 and I didnโ€™t want to spend that much again so I researched less expensive vacuums and decided on the BISSELL and I LOVE it! The suction is just as good as the Dyson. Iโ€™m using the Febreeze filter it came with and so far so good with the dog smell.

  10. Until recently we used three Kirby vacs in our home. They worked well, and should the need ever arise, you can actually buy parts for them, unlike 99% of the plastic toy vacs that are now available. Unfortunately, they are both heavy and noisy, and became a bit much for my wife to handle when her bad back got worse, despite being self propelled. I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a stick vac, and after much review reading, went with a Shark Rocket Ultra Light corded vac (didn’t wan’t anything with a battery that would be expensive to replace in the future). To say that I am shocked by how well this vac performs is an understatment. There are only two of us in the house, and no pets, yet this vac picks up more dirt than I ever imagined that there could be in here, and does it very quietly, too. It also works on bare floors, as it has the second soft roller on the front for them, and the brush roller for carpets can be independently shut off while doing the bare floors. And when the brush roller is on while doing the rugs/carpets, it’s as if the vac is self propelled. Twisting the handle right & left pivots the vac head and allows you to steer the vac around obstructions easily, and the very low profile of the head allows for vacuuming under just about anything you could never fit a big upright under previously. Also, it cost a heck of a lot less than a Dyson.

    • I have a shark cordless stick too, not sure of the model….have had for about 3 years. It took a few times using it to get used to using with the dust catcher at the top, but once I got used to it, I love it. I had a Dyson vacuum cleaner for a bunch of years that I paid double for and I did not like it from the beginning and should have returned it. A friend had a Shark and had 4 dogs and 4 cats in a small house and vacuumed often (prior to robot vacuums) and I switched when I moved. LOVE IT.

      • I have a shark too. Had a Bissell pet version and it was excellent, no complaints except it died after two years. Got the shark four years ago and still going strong. Has the attachments feature which works great especially for upholstery and hard to reach places.

    • We have the same one and love it. We have had it for a few years and it still works great. I just wish the dust collector was bigger. We have 3 dogs and it fills up quickly even when vacuuming every 2 or 3 days. We also have the Dyson V7 Pet and love it too. It works great for simpler jobs where I don’t want to have to go around plugging and unplugging the cord. The only downside to the Dyson is having to hold the button in to make it run. I get why it works that way (save battery power), but it’s hard on a hand with arthritis.

    • I sold Kirby vacuums door to door 32 years ago. Your post brought nostalgia LOL

I know they are old school compared to newer vacuums, but they will last a long, long time.

  11. I actually have four vaccuums.First, my central vaccuum with a cumbersome cord that is annoying, next I have a Meile cannister which I love for it’s convenience in getting around all the areas of my house, then I also have a Bissell that I just bought which vaccuums, washes my floors and carpets Love it! Lastly I have a cordless Dyson which has been a bitter disappointment, as I have had it in a shop numerous times with problems. The repair shop said their advertising was much better than their products! In the end, I would stick with Bissel or Shark to do a great job. There are many great products that don’t cost a fortune that will work best!

  12. I had a Dyson once, way back when woot.com was a thing, and I got a great deal on it. I loved that vacuum cleaner. That was in “another life”. the vacuum cleaner I have now is an older Bissell. It works good, but I don’t like the way the accessory tube attaches to the base (for storage) and it’s heavier than I would like. I am definitely looking at the newer model here, but wonder how heavy it is. How much effort does it take to push?

  14. I have owned two of these Tineco vacuums for several years now and I love them. suction is great. Battery life is not quite what they claim which is why I ultimately bought a second one to keep in the opposite end of house. This allows me to vacuum the entire house at one time with battery life to spare if I so desire. I have a bad back and if I have to use a corded vac it’s simply not going to get used. As for Robo vacs, I bought my husband for Christmas(don’t laugh, he’s super hard to buy for) a top of the line iRobot Roomba s9+. After three days it died. I bought a cheap Kyvol robo vac on Amazon to make due until they replaced the Roomba. Long story short, we returned the Roomba and kept the Kyvol and have never regretted it. The 2 weeks iRobot promised us to replace the Roomba turned into 2 months.

    • Nancy Hebert, I’m really interested about the Tineco cordless vacs. I have owned Kirbys. I’m on my second one. I love the Kirby, it was great when I had 2 dogs that shed and a cat. I lived in a big apartment and then in a 3 bedroom house. I now live in a very small apartment. I can’t even fit it in a closet… so it sits out here in the living room. lol. I will not get rid of it but when I do find a replacement it will go into my storage unit. I still have the pet hair issues. The Bissel swivel that Jillee reviewed I heard great things about but I want a cordless also. Sooo, I did buy a Tineco A10 Dash. Is that a model that you own? I haven’t taken it out of the box yet. I’m not sure if it has the features I was looking for. (I was making myself crazy over finding a great cordless, so just grabbed this at Walmart) I want the handheld part to really suck up the cat hairs from the couch.

Where you have owned a few I thought you may know which model # might be best at this.
Thank you for any help or info.
Meanwhile I’m off to buy that corded Bissell.
      Thank you Jillee!!!
and Thank you Nancy for any input you may have,
      Marlene

  15. I love my Dyson, suction amazing, moves around so easy, not heavy, great to get underneath furniture, etc. Easy to put attachments on & off. Easy to dump out what you picked up. If you are a senior, very light, much easier to use if you are doing stairs, quick in & out of closet for just pickups, great for big jobs too. 2 batteries are great. I have had many over the years but this beats all. Love it.

  16. How noisy is the $100 vacuum? I have a pomeranian and a VERY skittish cat. I’m sure older vacuums are noisier than newer models but still don’t want to get a new vacuum that it so loud it’s hard to talk over without yelling like my current one (it’s over 10 years old).

Please log in or create a free account to comment.
    • It is about as loud as an average vacuum. I would not consider it any louder or more quiet than other vacuums.
