Do you have any “miracle” solutions for cleaning microwaves? I don’t know what all has exploded in mine, but it is scary!!!! And of course it is above the cooktop (glass) so I can’t really get eye level with it to get a lot of elbow grease in it! And you know all the nasty stuff you got off your vent filter? That’s also in my microwave. YUCK!!!

Jenna….have you tried “steam cleaning” your microwave? Put a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar in a heat-safe bowl (I used a pyrex measuring cup) and “cook” it in the microwave until it gets the inside good and steamy! 5 to 10 minutes. Everything inside will wipe right off! Hope this helps! :-)

OMG!! I am convinced! It worked! Except for the teeny little corners where gunk has cowered, the inside of my microwave looks brand new (and it wasn’t even new when it was handed down to me).

I have made the “shout” stain remover, the wet cloth dryer sheets, and the no-cook laundry detergent, which I LOVE!!

Thanks for your dedication to this blog. I have been on it for the last four days (as I just discovered it). I feel that I have been duped for so many years by the manufacturers of cleaning products that don’t work. I fully admit that my motives for trying so many of these homemade products is purely financial. I am gratified that they also seem to be friendlier to our environment as well as reducing my environmental footprint.

Hey Jillee… I had been using a swiffer to scrub my vinyl floors but my cats seem to enjoy the taste then get sick. I got myself one of those “swiffer-like” spray mops that you can put your own cleaner in it. I LOVE IT! Works better than the “swiffer” … but I used 2 T of vinegar with water to scrub the floors. Now they are clean, and “pet-edible” but they are streaky and dull. Any suggestions of something I could put in that mop that would clean, streak-free, shine AND be “pet-edible”??? Thanks so much! I’ve made MANY of your recipes and passed along tons to my family and friends!

I just heard about your website from a friend a few days ago and I love it!!!! I am especially intrigued by all the “homemade solutions” especially the laundry stuff. But today when I came back to find the “recipe” for homemade fabric softener, NONE of them are under the categories tab!!! When I click on it, all I get are the comments! I don’t know what happened???? Is it a technical difficulty, or is it just me??? HELP! I am already addicted to your website, and can’t get to what I want, no matter where I click!!!! :(

    Jillee,
First off, I must say that my fiance and I LOVE your blog! I was actually wondering whether or not you have any suggestions for a homemade bleach alternative? You have inspired us to give the majority of our pricey, harmful chemicals the boot — but I have yet to find a suitable replacement for my jug of bleach! After having replaced nearly every other cleaner, I cringe at the thought of continuing to dump bleach into our laundry.
    Thanks!

LOVE this site and LOVE what u do! Thank u! I am looking for a natural hair conditioner recipe that is not made from food! All the ones I find say to use food, like egg and mayo! I seen the deep conditioner but wasn’t sure if it was something I could use just daily/ weekly? Again thanks for all you do!!

As a single mom I love this site- I have stopped buying cleaners and I am making a little of everything from this site. Does anyone have an alternative to Oven Cleaner for the burner pans on your stovestop? Something non-toxic smelling too. I have been recomending this site to all my friends- Thank- you!!!

Got a question..I see you have some lotions on here. Has anyone come up with one to replace those over price shave less lotions. I found a site that had the tan lotions..really simple coco powder in lotion, but I’m someone who has to shave everyday. Shoot by most evenings I have stubble. I have tried those lotions that claim to remove hair without shaving..they stink. spent $$$$ to find they worse less them me shaving everyday.

I read that Exfoliate helps. how about a lotion that does that too??

Any help would be great. Thanks

This is an awesome site, in fact I’m cleaning my dish washer as I write. I can’t wait to see how clean it comes using the homemade solution! I’m taking before and after photos to share the success with friends. Later today, it’s dryer sheets! Thanks for the cool solutions. They’re much preferred to throwing things away that can be used again. Kind of like recipes for left-overs LOL!

Hi there! This is kind of off topic but I
need some help from an established blog. Is it very difficult to
set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about setting up
my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Cheers
