This Blender BBQ Sauce Is Unbelievably Easy And Delicious

This blender BBQ sauce is easy and delicious, so you can have bbq beef sandwiches quick!

A Delicious Homemade BBQ Sauce That’s Ready In Seconds

When I was a girl, I loved most of the food my mom made, but I was always particularly excited when she made ribs with homemade BBQ sauce. Mom’s BBQ sauce was thick, sweet, and slightly tangy — exactly how I like it!

I didn’t find out that her recipe had a bonafide secret ingredient — prunes baby food — until my siblings and I were teenagers. (Knowing how we would have reacted to that knowing that were eating a fruit puree for babies, I can’t say I blame her for keeping that a secret as long as she did!)

With it being grilling season, I thought I’d share my take on my mom’s easy BBQ sauce recipe here in this post! Grab your blender and a few simple ingredients, and you’ll be seconds away from a delicious sauce that’s sure to steal the show at your next backyard barbecue.

How To Make Blender BBQ Sauce

You need a blender, brown sugar, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper, liquid smoke, pepper, garlic powder and baby food prunes for this bbq sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2-1 cup brown sugar (for a sweeter sauce, use the higher amount)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 (2 1/2 ounce) container prunes baby food (my mom’s secret ingredient!)
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
Put all the bbq sauce ingredients in the blender and process until smooth.

Directions:

Get ready for the world’s easiest instructions…

Put all the ingredients in your blender, then blend until smooth. At that point, you can either warm the sauce on your stove or use it as is. And that’s it!

The secret ingredient to this blender bbq sauce is baby food prunes!

Additions & Substitutions

The recipe above is great as is, but don’t be afraid to add or swap ingredients to make it your own! You can add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne to give it a bit more heat, use less brown sugar, add more garlic — whatever sounds good to you!

One of the great things about this BBQ sauce recipe is that you can make a big batch of it and freeze whatever you won’t use right away. (I suggest pouring the extra sauce into an ice cube tray and freezing it, then transferring the frozen cubes to a ziplock freezer bag!)

Add this blender bbq sauce to shredded meat of any kind for delicious bbq sandwiches.

What Can I Put Blender BBQ Sauce On?

Brush this easy BBQ sauce on grilled chicken and serve with a fresh salad for a perfect summertime meal. I also love this sauce on a homemade BBQ chicken salad with black beans, corn, red onion, and ranch dressing. So good!

You can brush blender BBQ sauce on meatloaf and burgers, add it to shredded pork or chicken for sandwiches, and even stir into some mayo to make a tangy dip for french fries and onion rings. It’s also great on delicious BBQ chicken pizza too!

  3. My mom used to make her own BBQ sauce that I always loved. Now BBQ sauce is a staple in out house. My family likes Sweet Baby Rays and I love the smokiness of K.C. Masterpiece. We often have both on hand; although, I would like to create one from scratch without all the additives.

  6. I jazz up store bought sauce. I combine cup of BBQ sauce (I love KC Masterpiece Original), 1/3 cup honey and 3 big, fat, garlic cloves crushed through a garlic press. YUM. Have been eyeing the Blentec. Have a big birthday next month. If I don’t win, maybe I can ask for it (several/many people can go in on it…teehee)

  9. Our family adds a spoonful of reserved Chipotle sauce from a can of Chipotles and a dash of honey to any bottled sauce. Smokey, spicy, and sweetness that is foolproof!

  10. My favorite BBQ sauce is from a restaurant in Texas called Rudy’s. It’s got that great smoky BBQ taste with just a hint if some spice.
I have been dying to recreate it (and make my own hummus and sauces), but don’t have a blender that would cut it, or should I say blend it. Lol. Sorry bad humor.
It would be so perfect to win this. Trying to cook more healthy takes better tools so you don’t rely on canned ingredients as much.
Such a blessing it would be! Good luck to everyone and thanks for the awesome giveaway!!

  14. Every summer we would have a big cookout and invite friends to come. We as hosts would furnish the BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, drinks and three flavors of homemade ice cream, friends and family would bring a covered dish or dessert. My Dad made the best homemade sauce/dip. The only problem is he never wrote down the recipe. His excuse was he just put in what he thought it needed and would taste it until he thought it was right, there was also a few secret ingredients lol. Now that Dad is gone my go to BBQ sauce is Sweet Baby Rays, any version…they are all good ;-)

  20. My favorite BBQ sauce is BUSTER’S BBQ SAUCE.It was developed by a Canadian but is made in the US. It uses blueberries in the recipe. It comes in mild, chipotle and a hot version and I like the chipotle. People are always asking what I have used when I use this–either in the oven or on the BBQ. It is really good on ribs. Unfortunately now that I have entered this contest if any of my friends realize who I am the secret will be out.

  22. My favourite BBQ sauce at the moment is a store brand, ‘Kansas City Style Smokey Barbecue Sauce’, from our local Sobey’s. It would be so cool to have a Blendtec and be able to make a homemade sauce and heat it up at the same time! :)
