Last week I had the privilege of being in Washington, DC for the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life Champion Summit. What a whirlwind! We were busy from early in the morning until late at night, everyday of the trip! But, I learned so much about protecting children worldwide with life-saving vaccines and got to meet some amazing people who I will never forget. One of the people on that trip who will remain particularly memorable was the woman who shared with me one of her best beauty travel tips. This was a game-changer for me because it deals with one of my typical travel beauty emergencies….not enough time for proper hair care! I thought it was so smart that I had to share it with all of you!
When you’re on the road for business (or pleasure) there’s not always time to wash your hair as much as you’d like to. But don’t despair, hair help is here! The next time you travel make sure you take this secret weapon with you.
DIY Dry “Shampoo”
What you’ll need:
- 1/4 cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder
- 4-5 drops of your favorite essential oil (I used Rosemary because it stimulates hair cells and re-growth)
- a small jar with a lid
- a Kabuki makeup brush
Combine the cornstarch and essential oil, mix well, and store in a travel-size jar.
When you know you’re going to be pressed for time…..apply the cornstarch mixture with a brush on your roots at night (or a couple hours in advance of going out) so it has time to absorb and you won’t get that gray wig look.
You’ll wake up ready to face another busy day with fresh and clean hair!
This simple, all-natural dry “shampoo” is perfect for light or dark hair and can even be used as a finishing powder for makeup or as an oil absorbing powder on the skin. TWO travel tips in ONE.
Now we both have an “ace in the hole” when traveling or ANY time a dirty hair emergency strikes!
What is your best travel beauty tip?!
