45 Simple, Creative DIY Spring Organizing Ideas
+ A Crate and Barrel Giveaway!

spring organization ideas

I went on an internet search frenzy yesterday, looking for Spring Organization Ideas. There’s just something about this time of year that inspires me to get my house in order! Maybe because I’m dying to get outside and start working in the garden, which means not much will be accomplished INSIDE after that starts. But mostly I think I’m just so happy it’s finally SPRING I can’t help but want to make things “new” again in my own home.

As is usually the case, I start out looking for 5 things and end up finding 50 things (OK…I’m exaggerating…only 45!) That’s the addictive/obsessive part of my personality that can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. :-)

Anyway, the result is a lengthy curated list from across the world wide web of some of the Best of the Best ideas I could find for getting a little more organized this spring! I know there are a gazillion and one “organization projects” out there…but I was specifically looking for SIMPLE and CREATIVE (mostly) do-it-yourself ideas that didn’t require hiring a contractor or ripping out anything! I hope you like what I’ve found…and more importantly…will try some of them out yourself!

Make sure to check out the terrific giveaway from Land of Nod and Crate and Barrel at the end of the post! :-)

I took great care to link to every source where these came from. I am IN NO WAY trying to take credit for any of them. As a matter of fact I would LOVE to promote each and everyone of the creative people who came up with these great ideas! If you click on the description under each picture it takes you to the source (or as close as I could come to it). Unfortunately, some of them never led to an original source, but simply to a photograph. If someone wants to send me the information of the original source I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to add it.

I don’t have a lot of organization tips since I am not the most organized person, but I am always looking for other people’s ideas!! I recently moved into an apartment that literally has no closets, so I have recently discovered the world of organizing shelves and wardrobes. With enough shelves and bins, it can be organized!!

I love organizing. And I have an un-natural fondness for organizing supplies….lol
When I organize, I like to keep everything as visible as possible. In jars, or stacked on shelves, instead of tucked away in a drawer or a box. That way I feel more motivated to kerp it organized, cause I have to look at it all the time….

I scope out the Dollar Store for most of my organizational items. They have all sorts of bins and jars and it fits my budget just right!

I have separate hampers to sort our clothes by load. That way I can easily see which one needs done. And I don’t have to sort. Putting dirty clothes in the hamper doesn’t seem like sorting.

I use a hoop hand towel rack to hold all my headbands in my bathroom. I use a painted flower pot for all my pens, pencils and scissors.

I have an extra room at my house that I turned into an office/library. I loved the idea of turning bookshelves into a window benches. Love, love, love how it completes the room!

I love using an old refinished chest of drawers to hold kitchen and dinning room odds and ends. Also an old hospital table holds my recipe books. They both look great great in our dinning area.

My favorite organization idea that I recently did was to buy an over the door wire hanger shelves $35 at Target. I use it to store all of my wrapping paper, gift bags, ribbon, etc. on the inside of a closet door. Love it. It holds a ton in a space that is not usually used.

I use different color hangers for everyone’s laundry. My hangers are black, hubs are white, son’s are blue.. that way each person can just grab their colored hangers from the laundry room after I wash and hang them up.

I use a tackle box to store all of our first aid items — gause, rolls of tape, bandaids (taken out of the box and put in top tray), Ointments, etc. Just grab the box and you become your very own EMS-to-the-rescue! Also frees up my medicine cabinet/ vanity space, since I keep it under the sink.

What a great idea Christine. I’ve been struggling with this one. I have an organized first aid in the bathroom and another in the kitchen. We travel a good deal in our travel trailer and packing these things and putting them back is a pain. Now all I will have to do is grab the box. This will keep me from having to duplicate these items! And I even bought a tackle type tool box on clearance at Christmas from Home Depot! Woo Hoo! Shout out to Jillee for sharing these wonderful ideas. Pinned several that I haven’t seen or employed yet in my home! Thanks for all you do. Off to FB to like you and the others!

I already do the sheets in between the mattresses, and the tension rod for cleaning bottles but I have two more things, I use two tv trays together next to my sofa they are the perfect height for the high arms. I have them covered with a round table cloth that goes to the floor underneath I have throws and on the other end near the tv I hid the gaming system for the children.
Also, I use bed risers on my bed for great under bed storage. The bed is high but now the perfect height to box things in the copy paper boxes my office always throws away.
