Over the last several years, since I started this website, the amount of traveling I do has steadily been increasing, and all that traveling means a lot of clothing care issues. One of the biggest ones is wrinkles. It’s hard to keep clothes wrinkle-free when they are squished in a suitcase for hours at a time!
Today I’m sharing a simple way to smooth out those wrinkles that works whether you travel or not. This simple-to-make wrinkle release spray is perfect for clothes that need some reviving after spending too much time in the suitcase, or on your bedroom floor. :-)
As it turns out, it is really simple to make your own wrinkle release spray! Most recipes are just a bit of fabric softener diluted with water. But since I didn’t actually have any fabric softener in the house, I thought I was out of luck. That was until I recalled a post I did awhile back about making your own fabric softener using hair conditioner and vinegar.
I definitely had both of those things, so I adapted a recipe for homemade fabric softener and made a wrinkle release spray that works great!
Homemade Wrinkle Release Spray
- 1 tsp conditioner
- 1 Tbsp white vinegar
- 2 cups water
Use a funnel to add all the ingredients to a spray bottle, and shake to combine. Make sure to set your spray bottle to the mist setting if it has one.
Spray your item(s) lightly on wrinkled areas. It should be damp, not wet. Pull the item(s) taut to help smooth out the wrinkles, and let dry completely.
That’s all there is to it! This spray was simple to make, worked great, and didn’t cost me a dime. I love a happy ending! :-)
