Slumber Essential Oil Blend Sleep Sticks For A Good Night’s Sleep
I’m always looking for ways to get a better night’s sleep, and Slumber Blend has been certainly been a big help in that regard. I have, in the past, used it to make my own sleep salve, but I was looking for a format that would be less disruptive to my early-to-bed, early-to-rise husband.
I’ve always been more of a night owl, so when I would climb in bed at night (or the wee hours of the morning), I would have to find the jar of salve, take the lid off, put it on, then replace the lid and put the jar back, which was a bit noisy and required turning the light on so I could see what I was doing. He didn’t complain about it, but I woke him up more than once (despite my best efforts).
As I considered how I might solve this dilemma, I remembered the post I wrote years ago about making “winter cheeks sticks“, and realized I had my solution right there! All I had to do was use Slumber blend in place of lavender oil, and I’d be able to make my own homemade sleep sticks that would be quick and easy to apply!
Here’s how to make them.
DIY Slumber Sticks: How To Make Your Own Sleep Sticks
You’ll need:
- 1/4 cup virgin coconut oil
- 1/4 cup fractionated coconut oil (or other carrier oil)
- 2 Tbsp beeswax pastilles
- 35 drops Slumber Essential Oil Blend
- Empty lip balm tubes
- Double boiler (or a pot and a metal/glass bowl)
- Measuring cup
Directions:
In the top of a double boiler, or in a glass or metal bowl suspended over a pot of simmering water, combine the coconut oil, liquid carrier oil, and beeswax. Stir occasionally until melted and combined, then remove from heat.
Add 35 drops of Slumber to the melted oil mixture and stir.
Pour the oil mixture into a measuring cup with a pour spot, then use it to carefully fill your empty lip balm tubes. Allow the oil mixture to solidify completely before using.
This recipe will fill about 20-25 small lip balm tubes. If you have any empty tubes left over afterward, you can use them to make homemade lip balm or stain treatment sticks! (Or, for a larger Slumber stick that covers more surface area, you could use an empty deodorant container rather than a lip balm tube.)
Once you have made your sticks, using them is easy — simply swipe a stick over the bottoms of your feet once you’ve climbed into bed, or while enjoying a cup of sleepy time tea. You’ll be off to sleep in no time!

I have used EOs for any number of things. My favorites are tea tree, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint and eucalyptus. I’ve even encouraged family members to try a more ‘natural’ approach to healing and cleaning remedies. Essential oils are wonderful additions to my home.

I am using a pan on the stove with cinnamon sticks and cloves in water to help freshen the house. A diffuser with some EO would make a big difference.

I suffer from migraine headaches, so I would really like to try the oils associated with that remedy. I also have a niece who could benefit greatly from Jedy’s Blend and my father could benefit greatly from the dream-y salve. I would be ecstatic to be able to help them out.

Please log in or create a free account to comment.I have never used essential oils, I mean, I’ve likely used premade products that had a minute amount in them, but I have never had a straight up bottle of them to use myself on whatever thing I’m making just because of a restrictive budget. Which is a pity because I make plenty of homemade whatnots that could greatly benefit from a little pick me up (or calm me down, perk me up… you get it). Lip balms, face creams, scrubs, yada yada. So really it’s hard to pick, but I did a little digging just for this comment! Call me chicken but I’d probably want to stick with what I know in either a vanilla or cinnamon, partially for the uplifting or soothing qualities, and partially because I LOVE lotions and such with “Winter Spice” smells. So there we go! Final answer, Jillie…
Cinnamon, or Vanilla!

If I feel i have a pimple coming out, I get my tea tree oil out. It’s very calming and it works! I definitely want to play with more varieties of essential oils!

A warm drink to start of the day. Recently I have talked my son into using peppermint with a carrier oil for his stomach problems. They seem to help him a lot.

Please log in or create a free account to comment. My favorite essential oil is lavender. It is so versatile and can be used for everything from cleaning, to scenting sachets for closets, and for relaxation for sleep. I would love a diffuser. I have bought quite a few spark natural essential oils and would love to try them in the diffuser.
